Democracy Now & Ralph Nader - Spotlight On "Chocolate City" - Washington DC

You probably do not have the Flash Player (Get Adobe Flash Player Here) installed for your browser or the video files are misplaced on your server!

Here is where I, a self-described "Black Conservator" see great value in the "Unattached Progressive Movement". (Unattached to the Democratic Party that is).

Plain and simple - we will never hear such a report about Washington DC - UNLESS - it is a narrative told by Del Elenore Holmes-Norton in which she is blaming the "Republican Elected Officials In The Congress" for causing Washington DC to have the highest HIV Infection rate in the nation.

(Note - right after the Washington DC report on "Democracy Now" they report from the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The report says that Vancouver is the city with the highest HIV infection rate in North America. This is due to rampant intravenous drug use in the city. There are no Republicans to deny them clean needles - it seems. There are not enough Black people in Vancouver to claim racism).

The key message that I received from this report on Washington DC is that "the emperor has no clothes".
For so long the Black voters have been sold on the notion of the benefits that would come to our communities if we put "favorable people" into power to run things.  Great if they were Progressive.  A bonus if they were Black as well.

Ironically Ralph Nader talks positively about the direction of the public schools in Washington DC.  No one is going to mention that Michelle Rhee had to fight primarily against the unions (all of the unions) associated with the school system in order to implement her reforms.  It appears when there is a "conservative straw man" to build up and tear down as the enemy who stands against the education of Black people there are plenty of "straw packers" to stuff the straw into the pants and clothing of the pinata, hanging it up for it to be beaten down   When the enemy is from the ranks of those who reside under the veil which covers those in the Progressive coalition - no such swarm of attacks will be noted.

What exactly is our community receiving from these loyalties?
I am not talking about "Democratic Party" loyalties.
Ultimately I am focusing on PROGRESSIVISM ITSELF.

From this ideology comes so many of the policies upon which the communities of Washington DC are based upon.   In the past few years we have noted that the community establishment powers in Washington DC have felt threatened both by White folks who are gentrifying the place and even Ethiopian immigrants that have taken over and repaired certain communities that used to be claimed by "native Black Americans".

Letting Go Of The Baggage That Has Failed Our People

The claim made by the Black Establishment who continue to grow in power within the "American Political Domain" is that RACISM is the root of our present problems as Black people in America. We as a people need to remain unified behind a unitary political ethos least our interests be violated.  It just so happens that this ethos is "progressive".

Sadly the worst possible situation for our people is when those of us who are in receipt of a full blast of this popular orthodoxy and are left all alone under the rule of those who have received the popular vote.  In the attempt to explain the erosion of the interests of "the least of these" the claim of RACISM serves as the aerosol can of expanding foam insulation that fills the void between the present condition and the promises made if we remain unified behind the machine that is aggregating power.

My call is NOT to form an opposition party to the Democratic Party behemoth that controls all of the institutions in the city of Washington DC and other places where Blacks are concentrated.  My only charge is that we as a conscious people begin to put limits upon the CONFIDENCE MEN who seek to make full use of our passions in support of their interests in the "American Political Domain".  We are standing in the wreckage of their plan of action.

The problems with Washington DC reside in the "Community Cultural Consciousness and Competence Domain".  The people have been failed because they have not been made to focus upon building organic skills to support the standard of living they desire - TURNING AWAY any struts that prompt them up above what their natural capacity afford them.  At the same time - knowing the consequences of them failing to deploy their human resources in support of this desired higher standards - the community employs certain HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT routines that direct the people toward a more productive end.

How many more examples do we need to show that there is simply no other way to go but this course?
