Fayette County GA Chronicle Newspaper: Its Official: Fayettte Is A Conservative Mecca
In some circles the word "conservative" is synonymous with the words "racism" and "hatred".
Yet when I make note of my first hand observations about the migration trends of a segment of the "Black middle class" who have progressive/leftist ideological viewpoints and their propensity to move into this conservative, Republican dominated county those who are in denial seem to keep demanding more proof from me before they accept it.
The ironic point is that most of those people, who I call "Black Flight Progressives" have moved away from locales that, at least on paper, are a better match to their ideological leanings. If we match the rhetoric from the Black Establishment propagandists with the facts on the ground with Fayette, Henry, Coweta (you know - all of the counties in South-Metro Atlanta that I have been calling out as conservative) we should see White people assaulting Black people as prime evidence that "Your kind of people are not welcome here".
Sadly the reverse is true.
- Safe Streets
- Quality Education
- The Fruits Of A Thriving Local Economy (Home Values Retained, Quality Retail Outlets)
Fayette County schools - theoretically racist - manages to graduate 91% of its Black students. In some of the neighboring progressive counties the graduation rate for our children is less than 78%.
I am not seeking change the votes or party loyalties for anyone.
Instead I am asking those Black people who have moved into "enemy terror-tory" consider the processes by how their permanent interests are being accommodated and focus upon DOCUMENTING them.
I am a "conservator". I believe that there are well-known processes by which our permanent interests can be accomplished. My job is to :
- Make observations
- Document that which works and what fails
- Work to propagate these findings to the masses
- Establish systems by which these findings can be "operationalized"
- Insure that this knowledge is propagated to the next generation
Rockdale County GA Is Now Blue
In a banquet a few weeks ago I listened to a family friend who was at the microphone in a room full of Black people. He made note that: "In the election of 2008 Rockdale County Georgia (to the east of Dekalb County) voted 'blue' for the first time in a long time. {The name of the woman from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation that he was recognizing} played a large part in flipping Rockdale County toward positive political control."
Now my friend failed to note that the vast majority of the Black residents of Rockdale County are expats from South Dekalb County. They often moved "out to" Rockdale county to get away from certain unfavorable conditions in their former residences. Most commonly questions about the school system or the influx of a "criminal element" is the driving force.
I questioned what about the mere election of a Democratic regime in this county gave my friend evidence that a better future in the county is ahead of the Black folks who did their part to make it this way. As Spike Lee says "People - we've got a Black president now......we can't keep doing this". This statement is appropriate in this case because it does not demand that Black folks do some major introspection as to how despite their past "WIN" in Dekalb County - it became a place where they could no longer live within.
The truth is that the Black Political Establishment promotes the "FIGHT milieu" for Black people in the political space. Again the veracity of this agenda is best borne out if they slip up and "WIN". Yet their control over the land merely promotes them to look for new land to conquer as they are "perpetual strugglers".
At minimum the "Black Flight Progressives" who have moved into Rockdale and Fayette owe it to the places that they departed to make frequent return visits and detail the PROCESS by which "conservative counties" manage to effectively educate Black children and retain property values thereby retaining wealth for Black homeowners.
It's official: Fayette a Mecca for conservatives
By Trey Alverson
Fayette County has long had a reputation as one of Georgia's more Republican-leaning counties, but now a national media outlet is calling Fayette a Mecca for conservatives "dreaming of fleeing their NPR-besotted, blue-state neighborhood for more sympathetic environs."
The Daily Caller, a conservative online news Web site founded by television pundit Tucker Carlson, listed Fayette County as number seven on its list of America's 100 most conservative-friendly counties.
Of counties in Georgia, only Forsyth (2) was higher ranked.
The Daily Caller's editors used a host of factors to create the rankings, including voting trends over the past two presidential elections, median income, cost of living, home ownership rate, marriage rate, veterans as a ratio of the population, weekly religious attendance, tax rates and other factors.
To be eligible, a county had to have a population of at least 50,000.
Fayette is considered "extremely conservative friendly" by The Daily Caller's editors because of its high percentage of military veterans, low taxes and overall prosperity.
The report also celebrated Peachtree City's golf cart path network.
Nine of the top 10 conservative-friendly counties are located in the South. A total of eight metro-Atlanta counties made the list. The Daily Caller said Atlanta has "perhaps the most conservative suburbs in the nation."
In addition to Fayette and Forsyth, Cherokee (10), Paulding (19), Cobb (60), Henry (66), Gwinnett (69) and Coweta (71) all made the list.
Williamson County, Tenn., located in the suburban Nashville area, was named the most conservative-friendly county in America.

Surely you are joking?
In the past 12 months there has indeed been 2 BLACK MEN murdered in Fayette County Georgia
1) Black man leaving a night club out of Fulton County Georgia was followed home after a scuffle. When he got out of his car he was gunned down.
2) A house party in a subdivision right across from Evander Holyfield's house a fight breaks out and gun fire takes place on the street. One Black male is struck and killed.
Forsyth County is to the EXTREME NORTH of Metro-Atlanta. Fayette is to the south.
Do you find it interesting that a racial incidence from more than 20 years ago STILL RINGS MORE POWERFUL TO YOU (per your consciousness) than the forces that are resident WITHIN the Black community that are FORCING BLACK PEOPLE OUT OF THESE PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITIES to live right next door to their ideological adversaries.
As a resident of Fayette County, I see my fair share of institutionalized racism. If you don't think it's here, you're looking through rose-colored glasses.
First off, Fayette still has district voting -- a Jim Crow era relic that has prevented any minority from ever getting elected to the county commission or school board.
Another Jim Crow relic is the city of Peachtree City itself. Much of the land the wealthy city now calls its own was once owned by black farmers in and around the town called Clover. (see Bethlehem Baptist Church in PTC's industrial district to see a rare relic of what once was). The Huddleston family bought up a bunch of that land for pennies on the dollar, convincing the owners that it was worthless.
Fayette is now "blacker" than it has been in several generations, but it is not the "blackest" it's ever been. Fayette used to have a significant rural black population that is now all but gone.
For further evidence of racism, just read the arrest reports in the local papers and check out the kind of sentences handed down by Fayette's judges. The sentencing here is extremely harsh across the board (regardless of race), but the Andre Scott case from a few years back nearly caused quiet little Fayette to splinter into concrete in white v. black divisions. (google: "Andre Scott" Fayette County). Neither side has forgotten about that travesty of justice.
As for the arrest reports, PTC police reports read like a list of the minorities in the city. It seems to me that Hispanics are targeted more than anyone else.
Also, In Fayetteville, you see evidence of white flight. Go to thhecitizen.com and read the blogs. Then tell me Fayette does not have a race problem. The (white) people on there talk about The Fayette Pavilion like its ground zero. They shop in Newnan instead of the Pavilion. They take their kids to movies in Newnan because they don't like going Tinseltown where the black kids (who make schools like Fayette County and Sandy Creek great) congregate. They talk of Fayette County and Sandy Creek High Schools as lost causes (even though they're good schools) because they're now minority-majority.
White people can't get out of Fayetteville fast enough. They're flocking to Coweta, PTC, South Fayette and Pike Counties.
A couple of years ago, the school board paid $70K to consultants to help redraw the school lines. When the findings came out, white parents went ballistic. Parents at Lakemont subdivision in Fayetteville demanded that their kids go to Whitewater High (even though its further away). Of course no one was explicit, but the reason Lakemont wanted Whitewater was because it was the whiter school. Similar protests came from the Kedron area of PTC, where students were supposed to leave McIntosh for Sandy Creek. Ultimately the school board folded under pressure and did nothing. $70k down the drain and the lines remain the same. McIntosh and Whitewater are over-crowded while FCHS and SCHS are under-enrolled.
The Southern Poverty Law Center lists two active white supremacist hate groups operating out of Brooks, Ga., in Southern Fayette County. On the day Obama was sworn in, someone blasted the front doors of two of the county's oldest black churches with shotguns... How long should I go on?
The reason Fayette does a good job of educating our kids is because we're richer here and we're doing a better job in the home. All the kids at our schools in Fayette come from much better economic backgrounds and more stable homes than the kids going to schools in poorer communities. It's all about the money. Conservatism or liberalism has little to nothing to do with it.
Anon In Fayette County:
You are putting things into my post that I did not say.
I will TRUMP your statement and tell you that only time in the future we will see no racial bigotry or preference will be when there is no multiple races (meaning never). Take away RACE and the human being will find some ohter point to splinter upon.
The MAIN point of my post is that Black people are moving into Fayette because, whatever RACISM that you throw up - it is less of a threat to them than what the conditions in their present PROGRESSIVE controlled area translates into their interests.
1) Get this you make the case that the single voting district county is a problem. Yet you say NOTHING about the FULL VOTING RIGHTS that is present in Clayton yet the Blacks there have had their Permanent Interests violated LEFT AND RIGHT. Why do you indict Fayette? I, a Black man, am inclined to leave things as they are IF it means that we don't become Clayton South.
2)I am very familiar with the previous Black population of Fayette. I have extended converations with Mr Nubb and an old Black man that used to sell tomatoes on Hwy 85. Black folks moved to the city (ATL) back in the day.
3) Again - compare the arrest reports in Fayette with those of Clayton. 10 years ago when I got a ticket in Fayette and about 3 years ago in Dekalb - the same is the case. Why do you hold Fayette to a standard that is not the case in these other more "Progressive" counties?
4) I am not contesting the "white flight" to the south of the county. WHAT I DO HAVE CONTROL OVER - MY PROPERTY - has lost far less value in Fayette than Black folks in Clayton, Dekalb and elsewhere have faced.
Should I worry about WHITE FOLKS MOVING or what the Blacks who remain are doing to their property?
5) Why do you bring up the racist groups from the left leaning Southern Poverty Law Center? Do THEY list the '30 Deep Gang' as a threat to Black people? YOU tell me which is a greater threat? Or should I believe that White racists are superior to Black Street Pirates?
6) If you believe that it is the WEALTHIER background but not:
* The presence of more intact Black families on average
* A larger base of educated Black families
* Schools that DIDN'T INVITE T.I. as a public speaker last year
then I have a challenge for you.
The next time some Civil Rights Actor-vist say that the problem is PER PUPIL SPENDING I will look for you to REBUKE HIM.
Since Clayton and Dekalb spend a slight bit more per student than Fayette then you have enough grounds to speak out against their claims.
Constructive Feedback,
Again, you're tied up in your false cause and effect. You seem like an intelligent person, so I don't understand how you continue to fall into this logical trap.
Fayette has lower crime, is a better place to live and has better schools than its neighbors because of one giant reason: wealth.
When black progressives come to our county, they are not running from ineffective government run by progressives, they're running from poverty.
It's all about the money. What conservatives do best is keep the income gap (and the closely related opportunity gap) firmly in place.
If you still don't get it, compare white conservative rich Fayette to any number of Georgia's white conservative poor counties. In Georgia's rural conservative areas, you have the wealthy maintaining their advantage not by moving across county lines, but by enrolling their kids in private schools.
Your property values will continue to plummet in Fayette because we have been sitting at zero growth for the past two years. Without demand in the housing market, your (and my) property will keep losing value. Where has the demand gone? To the new white flight hot spots, like Senoia, Pike County and Brooks.
It is conservatism and racism -- both institutionalized and overt -- that makes places like Clayton County what they are today.
You see "Fayette is nice place to live and the conservatives run the show here" and lose sight of all the real factors.

Anon - It appears that you are the one with a bit of cognitive dissonance. You live in Fayette, having moved in for an undetermined reason.
You say that WEALTH is a "Crime Fighter". I would LOVE to hear your theory on your plans to fight crime by spreading the wealth. I bet that the notion of private property will be molested.
Here is a novel idea! Why not communicate to the people in Clayton, South Fulton and South Dekalb that the best way to FIGHT CRIME in their midst is to GENERATE WEALTH!!!
To claim that Clayton County's GOVERNMENT POLICIES and the resulting fallout is NOT the precipitating reason for their exodus is counter to EVERYTHING that I have heard from these transplants.
Look at the C-TRAN fiasco. Recall that Fayette was RACIST for refusing bus service. Clayton went through with it. Now that there is a tremendous budget hole and Clayton cancels the service - WHAT SAY YOU - now that both Fayette and Clayton are the same - NO BUS SERVICE?
Do you see how frustrating it is to follow your logic? You LIVE in the county yet you are claiming that it is a product of RACISM exposed as classism.
Maybe you and I are bigger fans of CLASSISM than you are comfortable in admitting.
CF and others,
Cities like Detroit is another example of what liberal policies will do to a thriving community. Steve Crowder gives some harsh statistic in his video "Detroit in ruins" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hhJ_49leBw&feature=fvw
