A Tale Of Two Savannah GA Police Men - When "Civil Rights" Loses Its Way

Savannah GA Police Officer #1:
Savannah Morning News: Savannah's last living original black police officer reflects on his career

Savannah Police Officer Lt John White - 85 years old - first of 9 Black officers added to the force

Please note: I am honored to read the history of Lt John White of the Savannah Police Department.  He appears to be a man of integrity.  I believe that it is indeed that we celebrate the symbolic references to "the first" as a sign of progress of this nation and the opening of closed minds.

White spent a recent afternoon at his Blackshear neighborhood reflecting on his days patrolling a city where the color of one's skin dictated what level of justice would apply but that eventually evolved to having a black man as interim police chief.

Savannah GA Police Officer #2:

Savannah Police Officer Mark MacPhail Sr - Deceased - April 19, 1989

For some strange reason those who typically champion the "advancement" of our society have not taken up the cause of this:
  • Father
  • Husband
  • Government Worker
  • Union Member
  • Who was working a part time security job to keep food on the table
This young father was gunned down in cold blood on that fateful night in April 1989.  He did not get to see his 85th birthday.
