Question: What "Force" Did Lil Wayne Draw Upon To Condemn The "Lack Of Help" To New Orleans?

MTV News: During recording session, rapper praised what's been done for Haiti while condemning efforts in his hometown.

I will allow you to read the comments contained in the link above.

Potty mouthed rapper - Wayne "Lil Wayne" Carter condemned the lack of support provided to the city of New Orleans since the catastrophic carnage from Hurricane Katrina.

"I think it's amazing what's been done for Haiti," Wayne said, gazing out at the assembled reporters and cameramen in a tent just outside the Jim Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood as he stepped off a stool and lowered the microphone. Then, raising the mic to his iced-out grill once more, he added, "But I also think it's amazing what hasn't been done for New Orleans."

Few people will bother to ask the line of questioning that I am about to ask.

What force or bond is Mr Carter referring to with reference to what the powers that be in America SHOULD "do for" New Orleans that he feels has been grossly shorted?

  • Is it Human Rights/Dignity?
  • Is it the American bond of "Social Justice"?
  • Or is it merely rhetorical?
In my observation the last point is so.  Many people who are disappointed would not be able to document with an particular specificity the level of support received that would make them content than indeed "America cares about New Orleans" as they would if a similar catastrophe happened in San Francisco, Boston or Salt Lake City.

It most certainly IS NOT "Human Rights'" because these rights are not bound by the American political boundary lines.  Thus Mr Carter would look at the conditions in Darfur and tell the world:  "they need more resources than does New Orleans - we will stand second in line"

On the point of "Social Justice" - we only need to listen to the lyrics of Mr Carter's songs to see that his interests in holding up the sanctity of America civic standards are fleeting.  The police, the government and the powers that be are assailed as he makes a healthy profit.

I am comfortable that this was merely a rhetorical rant.
Indeed Mr Carter will have a year in prison very soon to clarify his mind.
