Question: What is a "Partisan Bottleneck" In Congress In The Eyes Of The NAACP?
Answer: When there are no more Republicans in Congress - all but 3 of them receiving "F"s and thus DRAGGING DOWN THE SCORE that the NAACP gives to Congress as a whole.
Now mind you - these grades given by the NAACP are based upon how THEY THINK a legislator who supports their brand of "civil rights" and thus a grade is rendered based upon the NAACP standing.
Now, of course, there is no one in particular to scrutinize where the NAACP stands and thus determine if indeed this is a valid definition of Civil Rights. The NAACP owns "civil rights" no more than the Republican Party owns "family values". The fact that they don't see "Black On Black "CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS as "Civil Rights Violations" skews the numbers. In fact they see these as "Social Justice Violations"........violations by the GOVERNMENT which has violated the violator of the other person's rights that is.
Today's NAACP Caters More To The Political Lusts Of SOME Black People Rather Than To The NEEDS Of Our Community
The question of the relevancy of today's NAACP and other Civil Rights establishment organizations has been of frequent discussion. Not just from "sold out" Black conservatives like me who don't walk the beaten path as we are expected to as Black people but the New Jack left-wing Blacks who are loyal Progressive Democrats as well. This "left on left" struggle is not new. The SNCC vs NAACP struggle over the question of strategy and "who speaks for Black people" was present back in the day.
Here is my index on the relevancy of the NAACP Legislative Report Card: Take the microscope off of the US Legislature where the test proctors of the NAACP are all secretly hoping that one particular ideology and party will achieve legislative victory and TO BACK TO THE BLACK COMMUNITY to do your inspection. The ironic point that I notice when I debate Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racial Chasers is that their debate is strongest when they shift the debate over to what WHITE FOLKS ARE DOING to Black people. Their debate is weakest when the conversation is shifted to what BLACK PEOPLE ARE DOING IN OUR OWN COMMUNITIES. Now of course - if you don't want to be accused of "Racial Self Hatred" then you had better not focus too much on what "Black people are doing to Black people". Or, if you do, you had better blame the legacy of White oppression as to why this young Black man, born during the tail end of the Clinton Administration, is acting as if he had just exited some state of oppression akin to slavery.
The most valid way to judge the veracity of the NAACP Legislative Report Card is by evaluating the present needs of the African-American community AND who is presently in control of administrating these services. Thus, it stands to reason, that those who are in the seat of power of the local institutions that provide our communities with civic services, those very people that Black people have appointed to represent our interests - after having purged those who don't - MUST be graded, to with a far greater set of expectations than the question of what a representative from Montana or Idaho who sits in the national legislature thinks about the problems with the school systems or violence in the southside of Chicago. WHY did you aggressively pursue these positions of power over our communities if your intention is to outsource the responsibility to the national government? This is an ANTI-HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT move. It prefers the "Boil The Ocean" claim upon "Social Justice Rights" as afforded by the nation to the sober realization that "We All That We Got" - as was seen on the various t-shirts after "Katrina". Sadly a subset of our people prefer to incubate the mentality of national interconnectedness but ONLY based on the prospects for the circulation of 'national resources' per legislative action rather than market based trade of value.
With the NAACP and other groups questioning the veracity of "High Stakes Testing" associated with "No Child Left Behind" it appears that they too cleave to certain testing techniques that don't pass the smell test. Again - the goal of all of us who purport to be focused upon the advancement of the Black community's interests must commit ourselves toward developing a model that most closely approximates the real world. If an airplane engineer injects his own bias as he crafts a new airliner - the first test flight of this model in the real world will be deadly for all. Thus the final judge of the credibility of a model is the real world effectiveness that is rendered or the carnage that must be cleaned up afterward. Will the NAACP and other Black Establishment operatives commit themselves to a model that is more credible than the judicial findings of an "All White Jury" that they used to battle?
The "Legislative Report Card" that is far more relevant to a Black person with an open choice is their residential migration patterns. In a conversation with a friend that I reconnected with earlier via FaceBook I learned that his family has migrated from a troubled county in the metro area to another county to which these problems are not present. I will give you a hint and note that my friends new home is represented by one of the US representatives who the NAACP graded with an "F". I did not note any fear of Klan attacks in this new home. Instead the level of educational quality, public safety and job opportunities - the key elements of the Black Permanent Interests - are in abundance.
Thus, once again - we must see that the NAACP's mindset stems from the notion that the government - the NATIONAL government is the creator of these zones of sanctity. In fact - we should see that in a metro-area where one county border encompasses "bountifulness" while the other "misery" then this is an example of unjust resource allocation that these political borders exacerbate.
The painful truth that those with the mindset found in the NAACP can't see that, absent projected oppression - the state of "being left alone to stand or fall" is an opportunity for a group to see the viability of their own theories in the real world.
They will counter that the past and present oppression of Black people and other oppressed groups (labor, women - and the other special interests in the "Leadership Conference On Civil Rights) that have unsettled issues of reparation as earned by this unjust system disqualify the attempts to shift the obligation to render favorable results upon their own communities. Again I ask - WHY did you take political and cultural control over these places if your goal was to abdicate your fiduciary duties?
My friend and his family are Black. They like most others are working class who have struggled to obtain what they have at present. The fact is that they looked at the "report card" of all of the areas in the metro area that they COULD HAVE moved to and they chose to move into an area that most closely matched their values. From what I know about them they indeed qualify as a "Black Flight Progressive". His FaceBook profile indicates that he is a "Democrat". He just moved into one of the strongest Republican controlled counties in the area.
We need to evaluate the veracity of the NAACP's Legislative Report Card and do one of two things:
- Force the NAACP , an implicit representative of the Black community's interests to CHANGE, removing their own bigotry and demanding that their model more closely represent what is happening WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY
- Ignore them, affording them the right to have their own opinion but, like one prefers a medical doctor to a spiritual healer - realize that while they have their particular following - YOU are not one of them
- Are Black people assaulted, with their civil rights violated in "A" districts where we are abundant or "F" districts?
- Are the schools that Black people can attend after meeting the residency requirements allowing our Black children to operate toward their full potential in the "A" or the "F" districts?
Given the choice between the solid A average that my daughter got, the B+ average that my son got OR having to compromise my own integrity in order to receive a passing grade on the NAACP legislative report card - if I were a legislator - I'd gladly prefer to focus upon the edification of my children's grade point averages. It least these scores have real bearing on at least 2 "real Black people".
Please "pull your pants off the ground", NAACP.
I was wrong. It wasn't just Julian Bond that was the problem as I had figured.
