Rev Pat Roberson & Haiti - The "Deal With The Devil" Is Robertson's CIA Insurgency

What Pat Robertson said about Haiti's "Deal With The Devil" cannot be substantiated by the facts on the ground.

The long running claims that:
  • The molestations by the modern day American CIA
  • The actions by the World Bank and The IMF
  • The actions taken by France during the 1700's
  • The refusal by US President Thomas Jefferson to recognize Haiti as a soverign government
all having the PREVAILING influence up why Haiti is as it is TODAY - are all akin to Rev Pat Roberson's statements: NOT JUSTIFIABLE BASED UPON THE FACTS ON THE GROUND.

Please accept the above not as a CONDITION (ie: you don't have to accept the second statement as you accept the first.)  Instead please accept them as a CONJUNCTION.

For the same "mysticism" and the inclination for CONSPIRACY THEORIES deployed to explain the inexplicable - all for the sake of mental comfort is at play in both instances.

My argument is that CONSPIRACY THEORIES are deployed by certain individuals when the REAL WORLD EVIDENCE that is plain to see is not sufficient to "connect the dots" and thus satisfy WORLD VIEW of certain people who are unwilling to alter their own world view as they take in information that is contrary to their (often) bigoted positions.

Rev Robertson no doubts uses the cover of "Christianity" to hide his own jaundiced world view.

Those who inspect Haiti and other poor nations that are perpetual conflict and seek an understanding therein are no different.  They often scour the forces that are derailing the nation but ONLY seem to call out the external forces which they blame for the molestation.  This despite the fact that their analysis violates the "Proportionality Filter" and ignores the internal forces which have a far greater impact on the outcomes.   Beyond this point they often fail to observe the culpability that the incumbent order has to protect itself from outside influence because of the integrity and strength and integrity of their internal order.

If our goal is to develop an model for the real world situation at hand then indeed Rev Pat Robertson's words fail this test.  He merely opens himself up for ridicule by those who despise his message prior to him pontificating on this present situation with the Earthquake in Haiti.   If this is our standard (as it should be) then we should also be willing  to call out those who claims about perpetual external interference as the cause of the malaise in Haiti should also be called out.

DrKeithCurrie,

When you tell someone to not consume poisonous herbs and that person goes on ahead at their own peril; as you're helping that person to recover, you may also tell others what happened so that they may avoid the same outcome.

The only thing in question in my mind, is the story of 'Haiti's pack with the devil', but it is well known that voodoo is commonly practiced. In societies that openly practice voodoo, oppression and demon possession are very common, the governmental structure is very chaotic and corrupt and the society is generally lawless. I believe Haiti's inability to become a civil nation since 1804 is what Pat is referring to because of the story of the Boukman contract (unsubstantiated).

JTG, it only makes blacks look pathetic to give moral superiority and governance over an entire nation of blacks, to another country. Their own greed and cruelty has destroyed that nation and their productivity... don't give moral supremacy to other races and countries. Are you saying that prior to Bush and Clinton, Haiti was a prosperous and civil nation?
