The "Race Card" Featuring Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton

This, my friends, is a true story.

Earlier this week I went bar hopping in Atlanta with a few of my close friends at the close of a long and difficult year for most.  We ended up at a bar on Peters Street in Atlanta.

I recalled that the bartender was from Philly and we all began to talk about Philly and how things are rough in the city these days.  Of course I pointed out the series from the Philadelphia Inquirer on the city's criminal justice problems.  The bartender agreed with the general sentiment about the city.  He noted that most of his family has moved to South Jersey or to Mt Airy and beyond to escape the madness or for better educational opportunities for their children.

As we continued the conversation I looked around and noticed that there was a portrait to the right of the bar that appeared to be the face of Fox News political commentator "Bill O'Reilly".   Now it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that in a predominately Black bar as this was - the only use for Bill O'Reilly's face is as a target on a dart board.  

I asked the bartender why do you have a picture of a playing card with Bill O'Reilly's face on it with the letter "R" on it?   He said "Look closer.  Its the RACE CARD.  That's what the 'R' stands for.  Don't you see Rush Limbaugh's face at the bottom?    The artist who drew the picture said that there is two suits for each face card in the deck and thus he drew the other picture that you see on the other side - Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.  He is driving home the point that both of them regularly play the RACE CARD".

There was a 3rd customer who had been talking with us about Philly and the other issues we discussed.
As soon as he looked right and saw Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly he said "Those are some two racist M.F'ers.   I don't know why they are allowed to say what they say on the air and get away with it."

("Oh Lord.  Not again".  I thought.  I committed to LISTENING and not redirect the conversation in any way).

Then the bartender chimed in:  "They are the biggest hypocrites out there.  When Bill Clinton was busted for doing his do - there was Bill O'Reilly trying to bring him down.  All the while he got sued for SEXUAL HARASSMENT by a woman on his staff.   Then Rush Limbaugh got busted with a bottle full of Viagra when he was traveling home from a vacation and he was a drug addict anyway.".

I hate when that happens - folks.

I sit back and I wait.  I wait for the person to express some sort of balance in their attacks.

You would think that if they both were going to attack OReilly and Limbaugh as they did above that they would also say something about Jackson's young daughter or about Sharpton's infidelity that led to divorce and how he attempted to get the woman that he was living with added to the Democratic National Committee in the name of "Black Representation".  I didn't even expect them to make mention that both of them are REVERENDS and thus (supposedly) "Fishers of Men" on behalf of Jesus.

I thought back to the time in the 2004 elections as I was listening to the Black talk radio station WAOK AM in Atlanta.  A caller noted that George W. Bush as a member of "Skull and Bones" had to SELL HIS SOUL TO THE DEVIL as part of the initiation process.  "This is why he is able to do all that he has done and not think twice about it" he said.

I listened and I listened - waiting for the host to be forthcoming with the truth - JOHN KERRY is ALSO a member of "Skull and Bones" and thus if Bush "sold his soul" to the devil then the "Pro-Black" candidate Kerry did so as well.   Unfortunately the host from WAOK was not about to make mention of this.  Her GOAL was not A FAIR DISCUSSION of the facts.  Her goal was to bring down the Republican candidate and to elevate the Democratic candidate all in the name of the "Best Interests" of the Black community - which voting Democratic is supposed to equate to.

As I snapped the picture of both of the portraits I noted that both of them sell for $750 individually.

I believe that they will be hanging there for quite a while.

I also believe that in this particular bar - the "O'Reilly/Limbaugh Race Card" will provoke far more scorn.
