At the urging of a spirited blogger I will partake on the task of reading the new book by Cornel West.
I promise grant Cornel West what he did not provide Justice Clarence Thomas - a FAIR READING of his book. See "Tavis Smiley Assembles An "All White Jury" To Evaluate Justice Thomas' New Book)
I am going to move to the most neutral position that I know possible as I read the book.
Instead of judging Prof. West with respect to my own "right-of-center" bias, instead I plan to evaluate him on one question: Does Prof West Accurately Model The Real World With His Theories, Providing A Baseline By Which Black Americans Can Build Upon And Become More Organically Strong?
I am not sure if this book is targeted at Black Americans. Likely it is not. Instead I assume that it is a composition on America. I saw the names "Ronald Reagan" and "Barack Obama" in the index of the book. I don't even need to guess which is the goat and which is the unicorn in the world of Prof West prior to reading the words.
From his previous hit pieces against Black Conservatives - it appears that it is HE that has the bigoted position that needs more enlightenment.
I will make follow-up posts as I progress through the book.
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.
