Baltimore Mayor Shelia Dixon Resigns

Mayor pleads guilty, will receive probation and keep $83,000 pension after resignation Feb. 4; many city leaders express sadness, support Dixon

I am going to risk totally stunning some of you all who know my general sentiment about the incompetence local political machines that dominate certain large cities that are doing the most damage to our people.

I think that this entire Shelia Dixon trial and disposal was a big waste of time.  How did a "gotcha" on $2,000 turn into an expensive trial and the toppling of a big city mayor?   As a former employee of a large city you can trust me when I tell you that $2000 is a pittance in regards to the gusher of fraud, waste and mismanagement that is whisked away out of the typical city's general fund.

If we did a line up of unsavory political operatives that do material harm to the people and who need to be taken down - Ms Dixon does not make the top 20. 

Sometimes PROPORTIONALITY needs to be applied to a situation.  A legislative handslap would have been more appropriate here.  Especially in a city where a brother can get murdered by a Street Pirate over $10.
