"Why I Am Not A Democrat" - A Comparison Of The Logic Of "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" vs Constructive Feedback

"Why I Am Not A Democrat" - A Comparison Of The Logic Of "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" vs "Constructive Feedback

Some people have had their views enveloped in the cocoon of fellow travelers for so long that when they release their founding rationale to the general public - that which seemed logically amongst those with the same skew seems quite ridiculous when put through the scrutiny of those who temper their analysis of the thought because they are more interested in taking down a common enemy than they are strengthening their own by challenging them.

Such is the case, in my analysis of "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa"

A few weeks ago on his blog in which there is a tranquil among of thoughts that don't fluctuate outside of a certain zone "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" let it be known that he is indeed a liberal but he is a "Liberal Independent". He has departed from the Democratic Party if only in membership but not spirit. The justification for his torn membership card you ask? This is the puzzling part.

The reason for his separation from the Democratic Party that he provided on his blog was because "the Democratic Party failed to sufficiently respond to the RACIST campaign against then candidate Barack Obama as waged by the (racist) Republicans".

I will wait till you pick yourself off of the floor and return to your seat after hearing this logic.

I have no doubt that a "Democrat who is Black", upon hearing this would allow this to pass without challenge.

You see - when it came to the presidential campaign of 2008 - Candidate Obama, the "Democrats who are Black" and the "Snarling Fox White Liberals" were allow to accentuate the fact that the Democratic candidate is Black and use this as a proof of the "advancement of this nation"...........AS LONG AS you voted for him.   Indeed a political commentator justifying why the "Texas Utilities Commission"  crated voting district that was a source of the Supreme Court case recently regarding the "Voting Rights Act" argued that this district is still RACIST........it failed to vote for Barack Obama in the majority.

Thus in the mind of "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" and other operates who thrive off of the intersection of politics, ideology and race - a person or an area of the United States can be washed clean from past racial indiscretions IF it votes in a way that is favorable to the "right minded Black people".  Surely this is why the Democratic Party itself has been able to shed its legacy of brutal racism as the "Party Of Slavery", "The Party Of Jim Crow" and the party that has direct evidence of having obtained power by killing Black people.  (See "The Colfax Massacre" and the legacy of the "Red Shirts" Rifle Club).

The Conservative Stands Again "Black Permanent Interests"

I do not plan to make this a totally lopsided slam job against my liberal Kappa friend.  What I believe that he is saying is that at a time of great spiritual and psychological euphoria for most of Black America - the possibility of electing a "Black Progressive Democrat" to the Oval Office - was challenged by the one force that has been the thorn in the side of the Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser since they aligned themselves with the Democratic Party as the primary strategy for (their brand of) racial advancement - THE RIGHT WING FORCES ALIGNED IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

In my analysis the choice of the official Obama Campaign to appear to play the "high road" while its operatives on MSNBC, BET, TV One, New York Times and nearly every single Black Politically themed blog in existence (ie: AfroSpear) took out their swords, knives, bats and brass knuckles and battled the right wing forces that AB speaks of.  They played the "smash mouth" political fight that AB and many others desired.  The job of the Obama campaign was to insure that the candidate remained dignified and above this fray.

In my assessment of debating an array of those on the left for over 15 years on the Internet - they are no less hate-filled, malicious or prone to character assassination as those on the right.  The key difference is that they have convinced themselves that they do such deeds but for a more progressive end than their right wing photographic negative who is operating purely out of hatred and spite.

Thus "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" is expressing a bit of transference in blaming the Democratic Party for not defending the "Black honor" that was under assault (in his view).

(If I have molested this person via my analysis I welcome any corrections).

"Why I (Constructive Feedback) Am Not A Democrat"

Some people have been debating against the caricature of a "Black Conservative" (ie: Clarence Thomas or Ward Connerly)  for so long that they no not how to have a reasoned argument when a real one shows up.  They have been watching Keith Olbermann show videos of "right-of-center" people as straw men that are built up and then the sight of an "in studio" leftist to tear down the conservative in the video.

I would like to present my own "well reasoned" argument of why I am not a Democrat (and why I did not vote for candidate Barack Obama - I voted "None Of The Above" - leaving that space blank.  I did vote on a Diebold voting machine in a Republican majority county - so it is possible that the machine "flipped my vote" to McCain and Palin.  This was not my doing though).

My political perspective is arranged from the "inside, projecting outward".

It is simply "Management 101" to focus upon ordering the resources that are closes to you and thus most proximate to your sphere of influence because often its proximity means that it is the most abundant source of radiation that impacts your body and your "interests".

To do otherwise is merely a "Boil The Ocean" disposition.  Instead of focusing upon developing an EFFECTIVE local management regime and dogma and then expanding it toward a larger scope.......as people in desperate situations where they reside - see your prosperity and EFFECTIVENESS and thus it does not take much in the way of convincing them to implement the "best practices" that made your original district into the proverbial utopia.

What I described above is merely a text book model of the way things should be.  Just as there is a proclivity to spread ideas through the osmosis of "best practices" of EFFECTIVENESS in the accomplishment of certain goals that have satisfied a population set's past grievances - there is also a force that can spread by leveraging the present grievances of a suffering population as well.  The "best practices" that are identified with this alternative group is its success at giving the "Least Of These" a voice when they were previously "Voiceless".  Their agreement to latch on to the wave that is flowing because they derive their power against this seemingly immutable antagonistic force IS their power.  This is merely the "Strength In Numbers" and the "People United Will Never Be Defeated" mantra that comes from the Progressive Movement, The Organized Labor Movement and many other left-of-center advocacy movements.

The question that comes up at this point to me is "How can a Black person in the USA critically scrutinize the Progressive Movement? - You thankless S.O.B.".

As a history buff I am well aware of the importance of the "Civil Rights", "Labor Rights" and "Progressive Movements" in America that no doubt shaped this nation for the better.

The central claim to my argument is "Over time the protester who 'Speaks Truth To Power' GETS POWER himself" as he chips away at the facade of the powerful forces that once aligned against him.  HE is now the "POWER THAT IS SPEAKING".

While this force in question is indeed the INCUMBENT over a specific domain this does not guarantee that this force which struggled so hard to obtain the seat of POWER will also voluntarily tell the masses which it leads to HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE for all that goes on in the domain in question.  In fact the greater inclination is to "look for another nail to hammer".  He has a protest and grievance disposition as his management style.  Thus there needs to be some "controlling authority" which is failing to provide for the masses that he needs to constantly struggle against.  Thus having taken control of a inner ring - he merely expands his scope to the next plateau.  This job is to get the masses who are presently not satisfied to focus not on him but instead of "Them Over There".  THEY "don't want you having "nothing".  THEY are our main tormentors from a distance.

You Slipped Up And Actually Became The Incumbent In The Key Institutional Seats Just As You Had Long Struggled For

One only needs to look at where Black people live in our highest concentrations to also note that these are DEMOCRATIC STRONGHOLDS.  Sadly and shamefully these same spaces are also key areas of our most acute grievances:

  • Schools That Fail To Prepare Our Children
  • Streets That Take Too Many Of Our Lives Through Violence
  • Centers Of High Unemployment
  • "Hot Spots" For Blood-Borne Infections
The job of the BQPFRC Media is to incessantly make the case that these areas are as such because of INTRINSIC SYSTEMATIC RACISM.   Either White Folks are present in these places giving a brother a hard time (typically the police, or the Republicans in Congress that control the city's budget) OR they live on the outskirts of said area and their "racist benign neglect" for a fellow American with whom they don't share their resources with has created these zones of misery.  The image that the BQPFRC seeks to paint is that these adversarial forces snipped the shoe laces in the middle of the night and then they have the audacity to tell the people within to "pull themselves up by their own bootstraps".

As I listen to these "Black Inferiorists" talk and repel all accountability to the proverbial "THEY" the desperate mental and condition of consciousness comes to light.

An OBJECTIVE Black person would take a stop back and ask this same person "IF this is your present argument after having successfully taken over all of the key institutional positions over which you used to struggle WHY did you bother to seek these seats in the first place since your present placement within them did not satisfy your grievances?"

Is the Black community in Birmingham Alabama today free of major grievances about the threats to their public safety?  Or has the THREAT to them simply changed?

We are expected to celebrate the "picture" of the present police chief that hangs upon the wall - using it as evidence of our RACIAL PROGRESS per the leadership of the "Black Political Establishment".  However when it comes to the key focus upon the continued GRIEVANCES - those who defend the status quo within and the establishment need to latch into some permanent opposing force lest they become the target of these grievances.

It is my opinion that the present Black Establishment was not prepared to MANAGE the community resources that they now preside over.  This is because so much of their effort and focus has been keyed upon fighting the EXTERNAL struggle.

OK - Tell Us Why You Are Not A Democrat Already (Damn)

In my view candidate Barack Obama was not an individual man running for office.  Just as Bush was the face of the "oil companies" and "corporations" - Barack Obama was the face of the MACHINE THAT ALREADY DOMINATES EVERY SINGLE PROGRESSIVE AND BLACK MAJORITY district in America.

My choice to vote "no confidence" was merely a choice that was in line with the disaggregated voices of grievance that is easily heard in Black America.

  • How could I vote for the MACHINE that runs our failing schools?
  • How could I vote for the MACHINE who's mayors' offices also command the police who are both a "criminal threat" (per their tasers) AND who allow Street Pirates to terrorize our communities - having taken the place of the Klan?
  • How could I vote for a MACHINE who's key economic enemy is the very companies that employ our people? When the companies left but this MACHINE gained power in the areas where we live in our highest concentrations - Black people's suffering increased.
WHO'S THE REAL SELLOUT AGAINST OUR PERMANENT INTERESTS?

I struggle to understand:
  • As this same LOCAL force gains NATIONAL POWER - do you expect different outcomes than when they took over the cities?
  • Now that the dual talking points of "We need people in our schools who actually CARE about Black kids" and "People's Concerns over Profits (Money)" have taken root in the educational systems that favorable people now control - WHY hasn't your ideology taken root among YOUR OWN 'IDEOLOGICAL SOULMATES" now that they must temper their own demands for compensation and "favorable work hours" because the education of our children is our ticket to transformation?  (Note - the voters in Dekalb County GA - the "Second wealthiest Black majority county in America" became "Tea Baggers" and demanded that their property taxes be lowered - thus slashing the revenues available for the school system that is majority Black
The "rant" above is evidence of the central characteristic of his ideology and machine.  It can't live up to the same standards of "social justice" applied to itself as it attempts to apply to the nebulous "THEM" who are oppressing us.

The worst possible circumstance for this machine and ideology is for them to be "all alone, by themselves" and being forced to deliver the same standard of living that they express moral outrage against others for failing to deliver.

I am not a Democrat because the Establishment that is now in power is a functional assault upon the Permanent Interests of Black people IF your "Permanent Interests" include:

  • A Community Who's Educational System Is In Alignment With The Professional Service Needs Of The Masses and thus its primary job is to prepare those who enter to have their minds molded as such
  • A Community Who's Economic Resources Are Leveraged To Subsidize Productive Enterprise yet who's "Group Shunning" Is Used To Punish Those Who Do Harm (rather than merely disagree)
  • A Community Who Sees The Need To Develop Strength And Competency At The Periphery so that it can survive any assault on the ONE MAN who is the central authority figure (who's picture hangs on the wall) from which positive inspiration radiates from

THE PROPORTIONALITY CONSTRAINT

The diagram shows the stacked deck that is present within our community.  Operatives like "AverageBro - The Liberal Kappa" can be found making constant assaults upon the "red men" who are a threat to him and his ideology.

The far larger establishment power escape strong scrutiny.  When they are scrutinized they are demanded to go "leftward".  Never is the leftist-position itself put on trial in the context of the continued grievances that exist.

Thus the propensity to attack the "red men' is not done out of the absolute threat that they pose.  Instead it is done as a "unifying" tactic.  As long as the conversation is focused up the common enemy - they can achieve agreement AND not be forced to confront the key problems that are actually causing their grievances.

Today the key question for the Black community is: HOW LONG WILL WE CONTINUE TO BE USED AND OPERATE AS WILLING PARTICIPANTS?

Man, your phrase "Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser" tripped me out. I'd always looked for a way of describing my old professors back at NC Central; you finally summed them up for me.
The rest of your blog is quite insightful as well. Thanks for posting it!

Anon - This is a functional term that was created after years of observations.

The label "Black Liberal" or "Black Progressive" was not descriptive enough and lacked a specific functional reference.

This label has a sufficient amount of specificity about their economic, group cohesiveness and their driving orientation without being overtly slanderous.
