In listening to a debate regarding how Oakland Alameda County was going to teach tolerance to school children as a means of stopping bullying I began to understand how "political correctness" is the force which allows so many people to die absent heightened regard for the victims. In Oakland there was an incessant focus upon "protected classes" whom which needed to be protected from bullying. There was "gay people", "Black people", "fat people" - the list went on and on and on.
This same type of thinking is at work within the Justice Department Civil Rights Division. As the recent quote that I saw in Rolling Out magazine has indicated:
"HOMICIDE - often involving guns - is the disease that is the leading cause of death for young black men, and the second-leading cause of death for all people ages 15 to 24. That makes it the leading health issue, particularly when guns are used in combination with drugs and alcohol." Joycelyn Elders, 15th Surgeon General Of The United States
You know - some things are better left unsaid at times because of the inherit audacity.
Here I have been treated to a lifetime of "Civil Rights" stories in which a shot gun, a noose, a knife or an open fire were used as instruments of death for Black people. It turns out all along that they were not murder weapons. Instead they were "Vectors by which the disease of homicide was transmitted".
I struggle some time to understand how certain people are pacified more by words and attention to their grievances than by the painful truth upon the ground. The truth of the matter is is that the growth area for so called "hate crimes" are Black/Hispanic conflicts - NOT the "Right Wing White Hate Groups" attacking Black folks which get far more notoriety . I suspect that since both groups are 'protected classes' such acts, motivated by race cancel each other out like offsetting penalties in football.
It is my belief that the "Universe has doubled back upon itself" as it relates to racial politics and the African-American. This area has been so politicized for the advantage of the Black Establishment that when the dynamics have changed and they have obtained power - they are left stuck in the old dynamics and incapable of addressing the present set of issues in an above board and consistent manner that is in line with the actual threat.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Obama administration's new civil rights chief said Thursday that he was "shocked" to learn of the steep decline in hate-crime prosecutions during the Bush presidency and vowed to combat violence stemming from hatred and bias.
Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, newly confirmed head of the Justice Department Civil Rights Division, said that 25 hate-crime cases have been filed this year, the largest number since 2001. He produced statistics showing the number of hate-crime cases had peaked at 49 in 1996 had dwindled to 12 in 2006.
He declined to speculate on the reasons, but another civil rights official said hate-crime enforcement "was clearly not a priority of the previous administration."
Perez said he plans to hire more than 100 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, to beef up enforcement of civil rights laws. That includes enforcing the new provision of the hate-crimes law that expands its protections to people targeted because of their sexual orientation.

How does your "inspiration" from 2008 help you today and beyond?
I am struggling to get Black folks to make note of how the machine that Obama sits atop of in the Federal government already controls every single local district where Black folks are 35%+ of the voting base.
I will be "inspired" once we start seeing more of the promises that has attracted the majority of Black votes to come true.
