Beck defends clause counting blacks as three-fifths of a person
The conversation as reported on the web site "the raw story" and the associated propaganda based title is preposterous.
Being HISTORICALLY ACCURATE in your statements means "defending it"?
Did Glenn Beck say that he believes that Black people are worth "3/5th's of a full human" for US Census purposes?
The ironic thing about it all is that the same people who fabricate these stories to paint Beck a certain way say NOTHING over the annual report from the National Urban League that makes WHITE PEOPLE the perfect "1.0" index by which Black people are measured against. In so many areas of this measure the Black man is a FRACTION in the NUL report.
How does this pass without scrutiny.
I recommend the book (or audio book) called "The Negro President: Thomas Jefferson and the Slave Powers". This historical accounting echoed the facts that Glenn Beck had enumerated regarding how the "3/5th's Compromise" over how the enslaved Africans should be counted in the US Census.
It is 100% accurate that the Southern slave owners desired to have their enslaved Blacks counted as 1 full man DESPITE them not having any legal rights as a citizen. It was the Northern forces who sought to have the balance of the reapportionment tipped in their favor who did not want our ancestors counted as a whole.
Think about it - If we have these type of battles today over the US Census as it relates to Illegal Immigrants where those seeking a favorable balance for their apportionment desiring to have all of them counted fully - why is it so incredible that "non-Americans" (from the perspective of the law) have always been held in contention in the US Census?
If you are going to tar and feather someone - please have your facts together.
The article in the "raw deal" can only impact those people who don't know their history. Sadly therefore it is more effective than not.
