The Griot - Black Folks Need To Fear If The Republicans "Opt Out" Of Government Health Care

The ghost of the Civil Rights Movement - still able to scare the Negro.

If you draw back the curtain you will see some Negro shaking chains and howling aloud. Despite this exposure the tactic still has the desired intent: Scare Black Folks Into Compliance With What We Are Told To Think By Our Would Be Handlers

You need to ask the chain shaking howler: "What did YOU DO to improve our competencies as a community to address our needs now that you control all of the key institutions in our community?"

Southern states 'opted-out' of civil rights too by David Love

My post on "The Grio"

Brother Love:

My template for measuring the solutions to the proclamation that : "Black people need health care" is focused upon 2 attributes:

MINDS & MONEY

Indeed "Black People", my people "need health care".

As I consider the "Public Option"/"Government Option" and, perish the thought that some states who do not favor it might "Opt Out" I note the strategic failure that is inherent within - violating my two measures.

1) MINDS - Black people are free. We have the "Self Determination" that is said in December among any of us who practice Kwanzaa AND who demand that the general public respect Kwanzaa and the "MLK Holiday" that follows it. Yet when I ask the question "What BLACK MINDS will be developed into medical professionals as BLACK PEOPLE value our own lives and thus seek to apply our God given intellect in support of the provision of medical care as applied to our people?"

If there is to be government resources - why not the call to quadruple the number of Black primary care physicians so that, regardless of the economic state of the nation - no one who has such education will have this knowledge taken away from them.

2) MONEY - Speaking of the economic state of this nation - I ask the question "What amount of our money is being prioritized to insure, regardless of what the "Evil Republicans" do - will insure that the Black people who we value - will have medical care?

I struggled to understand how some people have problems with an insurance industry that pulls in $15 billion per year PROFIT among the largest 16 players yet they want their new insurer to be the government DESPITE this conglomerate having spent $1,400 billion more this year than it had in revenues. Does this make any sense?

* 2020 - the Medicare fund will be exhausted and "current accounts" will have to make up the different
* 2021 - the estimated federal debt which is presently $13,000 billion will reach $20,000 billion
2035 through 2042 - The Social Security fund will be exhausted and all benefits will be paid out from the same budget that Health Care, Medicare, Defense, and other spending will draw upon.

It is my opinion that we are in the "Union Period" of the nation and Barack Obama is the "Union President". Indeed there might be a CONTRACT signed thus granting you nominal benefits as spelled out on paper. Just as the UAW contract with GM showed the members that a contract does not mean a "viable agreement".....when the company goes insolvent it is all too clear to me that the same fate is awaiting the US federal government (iousathemovie.org)

Do you see how insane it is to fail to primarily focus upon building up the competencies of the Black community to provide our own medical care rather than working to make us more CONSUMERS of health care provided with external resources from an overdrawn credit card?

It's good to see that old school, Booker T type accommodation is alive and well. I guess investing in Black doctors AND obtaining a public option for health insurance are somehow mutually exclusive.

Cliff Notes:

I have been studying the "Prevailing Black Political Consciousness".

I will tell you that the answer is YES!!!! They are mutually exclusive.

In as much as we have fallen into a GRIEVANCE BASED SYSTEM OF ACTIVISM - when given the dual course of "Government Entitlement" AND "Organic Development Of Medical Competency" YOU CAN BETTER BELIEF that the first channel will be focused upon.

Worse - this nation has a $13,000 billion debt and it will grow to $20,000 billion in 10 years. Medicare will be insolvent shortly thereafter, followed by Social Security.

We have a LEADERSHIP problem.
They pervert "Being in receipt of" a certain standard of living with progress.

If we are not building up COMPETENCIES within our communities then we are doing the wrong thing.
