Falcons cut former UGA star Shockley
I am hurt.
I've always liked DJ Shockley through his says as a player with the GA Bull Dogs. He was a "home town boy" who got a shot with the local professional football team.
In the midst of the fallout with Michael Vick - Shockley was a prime candidate to step in and fill his shoes a few seasons ago.
Then a quarterback scramble in a pre-season game changed his fortunes. He tore his ACL. It was just a short, uneventful run until he grabbed his knee. He was out for the season.
With 2nd year QB Matt Ryan firmly in place, Shockley was fighting for the backup spot.
Sadly the Falcons chose to go in another direction.
I believe that we will see Shockley appear somewhere else in the NFL. He has the talent to be a solid performer on a team.
