3:42 AM As I Write This
I fell asleep on the living room floor after watching the news and reading. I wake up and hear Ted Kennedy's Democratic National Committee speech touting Barack Obama as our next president. There was no hint whatsoever as to why they were playing his speech at 3 in the morning so I wondered. Then Fox News announced Ted Kennedy -1932-2009. Juan Williams was on the phone recounting this man's life.
I will not attack Ted Kennedy at the time of his death. I have said my peace about what I think about this man as it relates to his impact upon what I am concerned about the most - His impact upon the Black Cultural Consciousness and the damage there in.
I don't have contempt for the man and I don't have a malicious intent with this post. This is not about Ted Kennedy. This is only about how a PEOPLE, who have the goal of mental freedom, must take some steps that are necessary to employ a measure of self-government, self-sufficiency, self-policing, self-education and optimization of the situation in which their own next generation are raised within. THIS CANNOT BE OUTSOURCED. To outsource these duties is to insure that your people become loyal to the agent upon which they have grown to expect will provide for them. In the case of Ted Kennedy and the Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser - that agent of loyalty will always be the National Government of whatever nation, where ever they reside. When the national government does not have the resources - they will accept assistance in the form of "humanitarian aid". This because despite what their own aggregate behavior to prove this to be the case - SOMEONE ELSE viewing them as "worthy humans" - will be providing the with such aid because they are valued as HUMANS.
MY ONLY GOAL IS TO SHIFT THIS BURDEN OF OUR SELF-VALUATION AS HUMANS BACK UPON OUR SHOULDERS
EQUALITY OF MAN IS A TWO WAY STREET
NOT ONLY CAN YOU EXPECT THAT SOCIETY SHOW YOU THAT YOU ARE EQUAL VIA HOW IT TREATS YOU
IT IS INCUMBENT UPON YOU - THE EQUAL MAN - TO PROJECT YOUR EQUALITY INTO THE PUBLIC SPACE.
This is the Yin and Yang called "RIGHTS" and "RESPONSIBILITY".
Instead of talking about "the man" - Ted Kennedy - I will instead talk about what we need to do as a people to get beyond the label that I had in my library that you see below "Ted Kennedy-Type Policies".
TED KENNEDY TYPE POLICIES
Right now Juan Williams is talking about how "No Child Left Behind" and "Medicare" are two signature items that should be attributed to the newly departed. I agree that this is the case for both of these.
Unfortunately the program called "Medicare" which promises to take care of the medical needs of our deserving elderly population will be out of money that is presently in the store house to fund its present payments to its beneficiaries come the year 2020 and will be more dependent upon the present productive capacity of the workers from there on out to pay for its "entitlement". Clearly what was a good intentioned program that afforded those who used it a higher quality of life - was not a program that could endure the test of time - as its costs had exploded over time. Anyone reading this blog knows that the projected cost of Medicare for the year 2000 as it was sold to us in the mid-1960's as Mr Kennedy honed his skills in the Senate and Fannie Lou Hamer got over her bitterness for being rejected a seat in Atlantic City - turned out to be a promise that was off by EIGHT TIMES the amount that was actually spent once the year 2000 came around and we got to test these projections.
On the program "No Child Left Behind", it is true that the dearly departed negotiated with President George W Bush about "What Shall We Do With The Negro" and his education? They did so over movies and popcorn at the White House. The one side received the increased funding that he wanted for our schools. The other side received the accountability upon the students, the teachers and the school system that he wanted - as a means of insuring that "good money would not be poured after bad". The deal was struck on "how to educate the inner city Negro in the Government Operated Schools" that he attended but where failing to educate him.
After this deal was struck in the White House - the vested powers began to attack this plan because of their own latent interests against the change that this bi-ideological bill was to mean for their way of doing things in the education space.
The Black Media operatives who had long called for more funding for Black children in their schools began to reject this bill. They fronted for the views of the teachers unions in which the idea of having teachers, school systems and students constantly tested as a means of showing "Annual Yearly Progress" was an example of the oft heard offense of "Blaming The Victim". The audacity of actually expecting "damaged Black folks" and those who educate them - to actually produce was an insult to the Education Establishment and the Black Establishment who's ideology and politics place them in line as two solid Democratic Party constituencies - regardless of the outcomes that both of them produce.
Despite the fact that even "The Crisis" - the printed oracle of the NAACP - was forced to admit that this legislation had provided even more money than President Bill Clinton - the last president to inspire a great deal of hope in Black Progressives - because of his general policies - had gotten around to spend.
Since they couldn't attack "the money" - they were forced to crystallize a nuanced attack about the money. No longer was the issue "the money". Instead the attack by the establishment became "The Adversarial Executive Administration FAILED TO SPEND THE TOTAL AMOUNT THAT IT WAS AUTHORIZED TO SPEND". The program was "underfunded and destined to fail", per the intentions of the adversary - we were told. Just as there are no more "Anti-War marches" today - the truth of the matter that few have reported upon - is that Democratic controlled House and Senate who rode into power a few years later - also did the same "underfunding" that they had attacked the previous adversarial forces of doing. Some facts only reach the public's display screen when there is an operative at hand to bring them to life.
I heard the newly departed say: "If the Bush Administration had followed through on its promises - AMERICA WOULD HAVE AN EQUAL EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM FOR ALL BY THE YEAR 2014!!!! Bush has reneged on his promises to fully fund NCLB and thus this point of equality has been compromised".
After hearing this statement I realized that the African-American public school student is but a football in that ill-fated football game that Malcolm X told us was constantly being played between the White Liberal and the White Conservative. Sadly today there are more Negroes than ever suiting up to play in the game.
The newly departed sought to make BLACK ACADEMIC ATTAINMENT a function of what was done under the roofs of various historical buildings in Washington DC rather than what was done as a result of an orchestrated effort at the periphery by the Black community and those who cared about it in their capacity as ADULTS in the school system to bring forth the equality which has thus far remained elusive.
I have no doubt in the world that the death of Ted Kennedy will be used as a means of pushing through the "Public Option" for the government health care system in his memory over the next few months.
CENTRAL POWER VERSUS DISTRIBUTED COMPETENCY AT THE PERIPHERYMy disagreement with the newly departed and the African-American progressives who favor his policies is one of management theory of human resources - above all else. I have little doubt that they are as passionate about their own thoughts of helping our people as I am.
I only ask that these competing theories be put on trial for inspection.
Their theory says:
BLACK PEOPLE HAVE A CORE NEED THAT IS UNFULFILLED - WE NEED TO STRUGGLE AGAINST THE POWERS THAT BE TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM OF RESOURCE ALLOCATION SO THAT OUR PEOPLE CAN RECEIVE THAT WHICH SHOULD BE GUARANTEED TO ALL WHO ARE AMERICANS. RACISM IS THE SOURCE OF THE IMBALANCE OF SUCH DISTRIBUTION.
My theory says:
INDEED THERE ARE NEEDS THAT BLACK PEOPLE AND ALL OTHERS HAVE AS BEING A PART OF A CIVILIZED SOCIETY WITH AN ASSUMPTION THAT ALL WILL LIVE AT A CERTAIN STANDARD OF LIVING. THE CHALLENGE OF THOSE WHO SEEK AND OBTAIN AN INCREASING AMOUNT OF POWER IS TO USE THIS GROWTH IN CONTROL OVER THE INSTITUTIONS THAT PROVIDE THE CIVIC SERVICES THAT THE PEOPLE LOOK TO IS TO GET THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES ORDERED INTO PRODUCTIVE AGENTS SO THAT THE DESIRED STANDARD OF LIVING IS EXPRESSED UPON THEIR OWN BACKS AND THE ARE BETTER OFF FOR IT.Today as the angry debate over health care needs is executed - there is an undercurrent of Progressives who claim that the call of "personal responsibility" is a CODE WORD FOR RACISM!!!!!!!!! They say when one talks about the poor and uninsured that the real target is that of "lazy Black people" who have been marginalized. They ask that America not be fooled.
How does one compete with a mindset who concludes that to ask a people who seek a certain standard of living to have some sort of linkage between their quests for POLITICAL power, their projection of CULTURAL definition upon their own people and the alignment of the ECONOMIC power which generates the financial resources that are needed for them to keep their NEEDS FOR HEALTH CARE as a confining attribute for their productive focus as being a RACIST ASSAULT.
You can't compete with them. YOU MUST ASSAULT THEIR OWN BIGOTED ASSUMPTION upon which this is built.
If the "right wing" is guilty of in your face RACISM. The racism that says "We have no intention of sharing our resources with you. Go get your own". Then the progressive left is guilty of RACISM which stultifies the racial minority.
I argue that a horse trainer does not dawn sheets and torches at night to terrorize his equestrian stock and thus shows his human superiority over them. He loves them as much as he might love his own children. Despite his love and willingness to care for this beast - he also realizes that no horse is a full human being and thus he must be cared for lest he at least go back to his wild nature or at worse he will die, as no human is around to clean his stable, exercise him, train him and bring him his daily oats. This is RACIST and Supremacist just as if he dawned a sheet. Instead he dawns a veil, intending to PROTECT the Negro from the results that his behavior would otherwise render for him.
At no time do you see a "Individual Behavior" centric solution set with the purposes of creating an enduring, comprehensive and scalable fix that stems from the grassroots upward. Instead the Progressive-Fundamentalist is a "top down", central controlling entity creature.
In this regard the White Liberal's "racism" should not be evaluated on how many times he slips up and uses the "N-word". He instead needs to be evaluated on his willingness to allow the "Negro" to leave the nest and fly off on his own, fully confident that the WINGS that God gave him are sufficient for him to soar above the clouds. The the racism of "benevolence" over our people is the "Yang" that complements the more onerous form that we are more predisposed to be aware of and reject.
TED KENNEDY AS THE "A+ SENATOR ON THE NAACP LEGISLATIVE REPORT CARD"
To anyone who is not an African-American reading these words - I am more than willing to acknowledge that my views are indeed the minority view within the African-American community. The popularity of my views do not make them wrong.
Indeed the "Ted Kennedy-Type Policies" are an attractive lot to the Black Progressive-Fundamentalist. Any time there is an opportunity to lighten the burden upon the individual's back and place it at the alter of the government - they see this as one less burden to bear. This can be seen in the debate over the "Public Option". In truth this is a debate over who will receive a net inflow of benefit versus who's treasure will be diluted as they have to share with more mouths.
My views will be called inconsiderate of the growing needs of the "Black poor" - which Ted Kennedy and the Black Quasi-Socialist claim to be uniquely attuned to. They see Ted Kennedy as a man who spoke to these great needs of our community. In truth WE WERE POOR and we simply became a model reference for the handiwork of Ted Kennedy and Jonathan Kozol - just like him. Neither of these two White liberals had sought out to "help Black people" per se. Their goal was to help the poor, hungry, victimized beast of burden that was at their back door. We simply were the form by which this being was instantiated.
In as much - an organically yolked, self-sufficient Black community would lose its value as a poster child in the world of "Ted Kennedy-Type policies" there are those among the Black community who constantly remind me and other "unappreciative Negroes" how much we would still be terrorized where it not for the "White Liberal groups" that have cared for us in the past.
As I consider the world of 2009 and see more "Black faces in high places" who are of the favored ideology and party for Black and White alike - my "thankfulness" about this past work of the White liberal is stunted by my observation of the fact that WE WERE NOT CULTURALLY PREPARED FOR THE DAY when our statutory freedom was at hand and OUR PEOPLE took charge of the Government Institutional, Cultural, Social and Economic pillars of the places where we live. Added to the Religious institutions which we have always had control over - there is today a great gap between the theory and potential that we now have as free people and our ability to EXECUTE upon this freedom via our ability to MANAGE OUR HUMAN RESOURCES by setting limits and providing them with direction.
The Ted Kennedy-Type Policies MUST DIE from our minds so that we as an independent, socially conscious, cultural confident people can live again.
This post was not ultimately about Ted Kennedy.
This post was about YOU!!
