N.C. death penalty appeal on verge of becoming law
Had the powers that be obtained the 5 part series done by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and then did some analysis of the findings they would see why it appears that the killer of a White person is more likely to receive the death penalty.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution, a liberal newspaper, who's editorial staff are anti-Capital Punishment, slipped up and provided a "matter of fact" report about how the death penalty is dolled out.
They did a county by county analysis of the Death Penalty Sentencing. The listed the race of the victim and the race of the assailant in the context of the location that the murder took place.
Yes - they concluded that the killers of White people are likely to receive the death penalty by the jury.
But oh did they fail to do the proper analysis of what their data showed.
The truth of the matter is that the larger, more Progressive city centers produce jurors that are far less likely to render the death sentence. This is the case regardless of if you are Black or White as a victim or assailant.
Just a few months ago the "Court House Killer" Brian Nichols who there was no doubt as to his guilt in shooting dead 4 people - was given LIFE IN PRISON and spared the death penalty. Clearly it was the Fulton County jury that had nullified the rightful sentence that he should have been treated to - DEATH.
By comparison the AJC showed that most of the death penalty sentencing for White folks came from rural, more conservative towns that have a higher portion of White citizens. They did not find that Blacks in these counties were more subject to racial discrimination (being convicted to death or the killer of a Black being sprung). The racial difference was when the state wide evaluation was made constrasting the sentiments in the cities versus that of the rural areas.
Ironically it is the PROGRESSIVE SENTIMENT that is generating what is perceived to be the racial imbalance.
My foundational rule remains: DON'T START NONE, WON'T BE NONE.
For a Black community that is suffering in a "Bloody Summer" these type of "Racism Chasing" exercises do NOTHING to abate the most prevailing threat against our community.
IF only we could find a way to better regulate the pirates and not just the system.
