No "Racial Profiling" - Yes "Cultural Profiling"

Walter Williams - Is Racial Profiling Racist?

I understand the arguments of Dr Walter Williams and I agree with the construct that he makes use of. Indeed there are some properties that can be abstracted based on a person's race, gender, age, etc. I have yet to see an "old Black woman" participate in the Piracy that has Atlanta and other places in a terrorized state.

It is clear that everyone makes use of stereotypes. The "Mall Cop" in the lily White mall might indeed keep an eye on the Black shopper. It is also true that when it comes to a landlord, (Black) tenant dispute certain "Social Justice" people are inclined to fault the landlord because OTHER landlords have treated people unjustly just the same.

As a Black man who is a gun owner I assure you that one would be wrong to infer that because I am Black and own a handgun (actually 3) that I am going to be seen committing some act of piracy BECAUSE "a Black man with a gun" is a deadly combination. My weapons far strictly for defensive purposes. After more than 15 years of gun ownership - I have yet to "put a cap in someone's behind".

I think that it is far more instructive to make use of an array of characteristics to form a profile than to lead with "race as a indicator of indictment".

As we close out a "Bloody Summer" in nearly all large metro areas of the nation - there is a clear profile that can be gleaned from the characteristics of the pirates.
