Detroit: 7 Teens Shot At A Bus Stop - There Will Be No Protests

7 Teens Injured In Bus Stop Shooting

Police: At Least 30 Shots Fired

Again - the real story here is what IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN in response to this heinous crime against these young people.

THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS.

The shooting happened about a block away from the school.

All the victims were transported to local hospitals.

The victim's ages but not identities have been released.

Police said a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl are all in critical condition at Sinai Grace Hospital.

A 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl are in stable condition.

A 17-year-old boy is in serious and a 17-year-old girl is in temporary serious condition.

Sources said at least three of the teens had to have surgery.

Deputy Detroit Police Chief Rod Liggons said parents who would like more information are being advised to contact the Detroit police at 313-596-2260.

Two gunmen, possibly three, emerged from the green minivan and "asked for a person by name" before they "opened fire at the crowd," said Detroit Public Schools Police Chief Roderick Grimes.

Police said they are investigating whether an incident earlier in the day sparked the shooting but said they believe the gunmen knew some of the people standing at the bus stop.

Witnesses said the men had masks or cloth covering their faces.

"I fell and all I could do was crawl to the brick wall, and when I got up, I heard at least six gunshots," a witness told Local 4.

Explain to me how one goes about protesting the behavior of individuals?

Where would the protest take place?

What would you say?

It seems to me it makes more sense to launch protests against institutions/governments or other organizations.

Usually the people protesting have a message to send to the leadership of the above organizations or are trying to bring attention to actions.
It makes sense to protest an organization, simply because the organizations would be able to correct the behavior of it's members, punish the offending members or change the policies of their organization.

Basically there is the ability to control within organizations. There is no ability to control individuals. So therefore protesting criminals would not work and in fact would be a waste of time.

Marcus:

Since the Reconstruction Era there were INDIVIDUALS who killed Black people. Indeed the local governments and law enforcement was complicit with their actions.

How is it that one can protest against the Klan and/or demand PROTECTION from them "back in the day" BUT as we see modern day organizations such as "Thug Drug Gangs" terrorizing and killing Black people in the same manner they are not worthy of a "protest march"?

Where as I agree that an INDIVIDUAL does not serve as a logical target for a protest - my main point is that some people have either not given up upon the protest march methodology or have been rendered into SILENCE as the killings go on.

Ironically the KILLER looks like them.

The police chief and mayor either look like them OR at minimum are of the same ideological/partisan leaning.

Thus even though everything looks favorable on paper this COMPATIBILITY alone does not translate into a safer Black community.

Clearly it is time for a set of new strategies that prove to be EFFECTIVE.
