"Crabs In The Barrel" Jerry Springer Style

My recent testing of "Digital Television" has temporarily snatched away the 300 channels that I have available to me in my office at home. Instead I am forced to watch broadcast television.

A few weeks ago I caught a glimpse of the "Maury Povich Show" and the "Jerry Springer Show". I had forgotten that there was an "ignorant class" of White and Black operatives in our community who live lives worthy of display on these shows.

This particular segment is more shameful than most. There is a female who is attempting to change her life via her access to education. Unfortunately the crabs in her life see her only as a "hoe" and want to drag her back down into the barrel where they reside so that she will have no choice but to stay.

If indeed this woman is seeking education and "changing her life" she needs to cut all of these hating scrubs off and align herself with people who are about something.

Black people would be wise to look into the reflections of Dr. Frances Cress-Welsing, who has postulated that our carryings-on in this fashion in public, among other things, do nothing but serve the interests of those who seek to perpetuate the image of a debased, inferior and ignorant people.

These images are also damaging to our children, who begin, from an early age, to internalize the idea that Black people are indeed inferior to Whites and other peoples.

The participants in these spectacles are not wise to the larger picture of how they're being exploited for this purpose, so our dismay at their complicity should not be overly directed at them. An education effort on the part of our Black teachers, counselors, parents, preachers and so on as to the counter-productive and subversive nature of this conduct should be given top priority in Black America today.

When I see Jerry Springer and Maury Povich I focus more on the studio audience than the White and Black trash that is on the stage.

The audience reminds me of the classical Roman Colosseum crowd where they are treated to seeing lions and tigers consume human beings for show.

These shows are not only IGNORANT they cut to the core of what our society will degrade to IF some group of conscious people are not protecting the integrity of our culture.

President of the Camden County NAACP in New Jersey should be familiar with the Crab syndrome. He is an Uncle Tom that is Bought and Paid For.

He is a disgrace to us black folks in New Jersey. Hit the Road Henderson. Read the story Willy Lynch. He's you.
