Why Black Georgians May Not Support State Attorney General's Bid For Governor

AJC: On crime and Thurbert Baker’s relationship with the African-American community

I heard it on the radio but I did not believe it.

Each day I record the morning show of Loraine White on the local "Fight The Power" radio station. Last week she said that she may "Vote Republican" if Thurbert Baker wins the Democratic primary for the governors race. I let out a big "Yeah Right!!!!" upon hearing this.

She brought up the case of Genarlow Wilson as her reason for not supporting Baker. Wilson is the then 17 year old Black teen that was filmed having consentual sex with an underaged girl in a hotel room with other friends. His counterparts pleaded guilty while Wilson fought the charges. He was found guilty and sent to prison.

During the process of protesting against this "injustice" the Atlanta Civil Rights contingent drove past tens of unsolved homicides in the city of Atlanta to join protests in Douglassville to the west. They key point that I have learned about the Civil Rights Establishment in Atlanta is that THEY CONTROL the bullet points that are allowed to be inserted on "The Black Agenda". If you think that issues that are the greatest proportional harm to Black people define the items placed on this list - you'd be WRONG.

This list is controlled by:
  • The fight against the system and authorities (police, district attorney) who are making VICTIMS out of Black criminals (Justice Thurgood Marshall Justice)
  • The fight against the local news media that has the audacity of reporting too much on Black criminals, thus making Black people look bad
  • The fight against state Republicans. Since all of the areas that they live are dominated by Democrats, any grievances about their local districts are the fault of the external Republicans. Since all should be going well because they have a favorable regime in place the failure must be caused by an external conspiracy that is casuing them to fail
Thus when Thurbert Baker read the Georgia law and chose to follow it - he became a rogue Democrat because he did not do what THEY wanted him to.

Likewise - if you read the AJC's Cynthia Tucker's most recent submission you will learn that certain Blacks believe that being carded for ID at the voting booth is akin to "Grandfather Clauses", "Literacy Tests" and "Poll Taxes". The fact that Thurbert Baker did not fight this law that was passed by the "racist" state Republicans to suppress Black votes......he worked against the best interests of the Black community.

Indeed - Black people have problems finding our drivers licenses on election day.

So there you have it. These are the important considerations that the "Speak Truth To Power" folks have in their consideration of a governor.

Thurbert Baker will never get my vote, and I really hope others don't forget the evil deeds of this man. He does not deserve to represent Georgia at ANY official level, much less to govern our state.
