The 3 topics of discussion this morning were:
- The comments of Michael Steele, the African-American chairman of the Republican Party in which he talked about how urban youth wear their hats
- The comments of Rush Limbaugh who said that Obama's rule is spreading like the Swine Flu
- The High Unemployment Rate within the Black Community
When I heard the third topic I thought to myself "Great. I can get past the irrelevance of the first two in regards to the serious issues of Black America.....at least he is focusing on an important issue with this third bullet item".
Then the first caller came up: "Michael Steele is like a minstral performer from back in the day. He is a Black man who is White inside." "Oh no", I thought, "not another tar and feather session".
Then they started to talk about the substantive issue of Black Unemployment. "Great.", I thought, " Let's hear how brother Ballentine frames this so that the community can benefit from the current favorable political and ideological line up."
Sorry. I am now depressed.
According to Warren Ballentine - the high unemployment rate for Black America is because of "THE HIGH INCARCERATION RATES by the system upon Black people". The theory goes - if you detain Black people and then insure that they have a criminal record - then you ruin their chances for gainful employment. Just like the plan wants it to be. He refused to call them "criminals". I forgot what he said he would call them. What ever the word was it placed the onus upon the system for having judged them to be guilty rather than they being guilty per his estimation.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST
The purpose of this post IS NOT to debate Warren Ballentine's views. He is clearly set in his ways.
Instead I hope to come up with a strategy by which the CHOICES OF TOPICS and the FOCUS that has been presented to the Black Masses by these media outlets might be put upon a scale and measured as to their WORTH in regards to the REAL ISSUES IN BLACK AMERICA.
I have sympathy for some of you.
I can empathize in regards to how I would be if I had this type of propaganda streamed to me via the radio, the newspapers, the friends that I have; without ever hearing sound rebuttals. The "bad guy" gets pummeled all day long and the operatives set the agenda of what he chooses to cherry pick.
In my observation of the 9P's In The Pod - they are going to control the agenda and the talking points. If you believe that their priority list matches with the biggest threats to Black America - YOU'D BE MISTAKEN.
Their list is centrally focused upon those issues that represent "Low Hanging Fruit" in line with the issues that prove to be most exploitable for them.

Domestic Pirate On Black Crime? How Blacks are being "made to cry" by those who are assaulting us? Nope!!
Instead it will be - "How the NRA and Conservatives who don't support gun control actually WANT BLACK PEOPLE TO DIE and thus they allow BLACK PEOPLE TO GET THEIR HANDS ON GUNS". Dead Negroes will result when Blacks have guns.

Failing Schools In The Areas Where The People They Favor Are Running The Schools And We Are Not Going To Take It Any Longer?

How about "Our schools are being discriminated against because we don't have the equal financial resources to provide quality education as the WHITE FOLKS do"? Despite all of the data that show the spending rates are at times equal, superior or less and thus this is not the problem for certain - this point of rhetoric continues.
On the last point they NEVER talk about how, after taking political control of the city - their IDEOLOGICAL SOUL MATES have failed to put forth an economic system that could provide for them in the quantity and quality that they expect? Instead of holding themselves responsible for what happens in the domain that they have control over - they "EXPAND THE POLICE TAPE", seeking to change tax policy upon the "Flighters" who have left them all alone.
THE WAY TO PUT THEM INTO CHECK
On the one hand you have to accept that regardless of the propaganda that they put out - their share of the radio market is relatively small. Thus aside from this faithful "Fight The Power" core, their direct messages doesn't have a mass distribution. Still, I believe that their views are none the less a representative sample who the views of Black America.
My answer to thwart them is, ironically, the need for BLACK AMERICA TO DEMAND THAT WE RECEIVE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN PROMISED FROM THOSE WE HAVE SUPPORTED. They would rather keep attacking the enemy who enjoys no traction within the community. In beating on this enemy - their own actions will not be inspected.
It is not enough for an individual to become aware that he is being used. The more important act is to get him to realize HIS FULL POTENTIAL that is being shorted upon as he goes along for the ride.
Presently he accepts the present results because he rationalizes that the little he has now is far better than the nothingness he had previously. From this comes the oft heard demand stated to those who tell him that he can have more: "Prove to me that I need to change!! What has your alternative ever done for me?" He is made to defend the very situation that he had grieved about just a few days ago.

The person with this view has some measure of inferiority contained within him. When he sees that which others have built up he immediately is drawn to the claims by these "racism chasing operatives" that they received these gains through some unseemly mechanisms. Thus he is in a perpetual struggle against them rather than being focused on what he needs to do to set up a system that can bring him wealth and resources.

This brings us to the real truth of the "racism chaser". They don't repudiate the system - THEY WANT THEIR SHARE OF CONTROL OVER IT. They wish to have populist control over the market place which otherwise would leave him to the side.
Knowing that their flawed ideology won't afford them the opportunity to build up the same system that they envied when they first set out to take over "city hall" and the other institutions of their scorn they are conflicted. Despite the fact that A FAVORABLE IDEOLOGY IS NOW IN CITY HALL this is not enough for them to make note of how far they have come. They won't note how flawed they have been in translating this political power into ACTUAL BENEFIT for their own people of interest. (Note: It is essential to underscore that I am NOT TALKING ABOUT RACE. I am talking about IDEOLOGY. These people are contented with the Progressives push out the Conservatives. Sure they'd like a Black Progressive in power. They are fully aware of the fact that Blacks are only 13% of the population and thus their band of BQPFRCs are not going to be able to do a total take over. Having Progressives in power sits just fine with them).
As a derivatve of my "Conservatives On Trial" observation - it is critical for those within Black America who care more about our PERMANENT INTERESTS than they do about forwarding PROGRESSIVE and/or DEMOCRATIC POWER to begin to show some "audacity".
The nerve of you to actually "Speak Truth To Power" to the people who taught you how to "Speak Truth To Power" now that they are in power is a must. This makes for the distinction between you using whatever political and ideological machine of your own choosing as a VEHICLE TO GET YOUR PERMANENT INTERESTS delivered versus using the proof of that machine's POWER and the head count of your favored people as the evidence of your permanent interests, despite the statistics that say otherwise.
When a FAUX agenda of things that should be important to Black people are put up for you to focus upon per their choosing - it is YOU who need to call in, write in, speak up and tell them that for you: "As I enumerate the biggest threats to Black America the two Republicans named Michael Steele and Rush Limbaugh don't make this list REGARDLESS of how much I would love to see the Democrats win".
When their agenda includes a BOGUS analysis of why certain problems in the Black community exist such as high unemployment rates being caused by incarceration - show them the pictures that you took of the Domestic Pirate who kicked in your front door and stole your flat screen television while you were working hard and securing your financial standing.
In summary - None of this is going to change until the BLACK COMMUNITY takes it agenda from the SOLD OUT INDIVIDUALS who are working on behalf of a force that does not have your own best interests in mind. This is borne out by the fact that where they are most dominate our interests are most threatened.

Wow! I kinda got lost along the way there but I mainly wanted to comment on a few views that you have.
The NRA has nothing to do with a 14 or 15 year old, getting a gun and shooting into a crowd of people/kids to spend the rest of their lives in prison and turned into a sex toy. The library offers books and I don't see anyone killing somebody to get in line to learn something. I don't see the NRA being at fault. Since Columbine and the Va. Tech shooting, you have whites dying from guns as well. It's no longer just a "black" thing although we die at a much higher rate.
Our schools are in shambles. I agree with you on that; but our schools have always been considered "inferior" to whites every since we walked off the plantation as slaves and began our own schools because we wanted an education. And that there is the difference. We wanted to learn and it was mandatory that we did. Our school system that didn't even have books has produced some of the strongest and most educated African-Americans in this country. It was not until de-segration that our learning is almost depleted. In many school districts, whites and blacks sit side by side and learn the same things. The country's school system has run a-muck, not just ours. Inner-city schools are awful and they can't find good teachers to come into the iner-city and teach do a bunch of kids that don't want to learn. Now this is bad for the few that want to but the teacher is there to get a pay check and they can get a pay check and deal with less headache at other schools. When teachers do come into the inner-city, they are their on a incentive program, are white and have little to no connection with the kids. Who do you blame? How many parents attend PTA meetings or parent conference in the inner-city?
What was promised to us? When has this government ever kept his promise. It has broken continued promises to the Native-Americans over and over, to the African-Americans and even to immigrants. Personally, I think that is where the problem comes in. We NOW rely on the government to do this and to do that. Our communities did better, strived and our families were tight nit without the help of the government. At one time in history, all we needed was the government to keep folks from burning down our towns because they were so prosperous. Now we look for them to build them, protect them, control and the whole nine.
That's the problem. We depend on others instead of ourselves. We look outside of ourselves instead of within. The same bull that the media is pushing off to blacks they are doing it to the whites, latinos and everything else that will listen. People need to learn and see things for themselves as not as others tell them.

The key problem with our schools is that there is no conjoining movement which ties the importance of solving the problems within our community with the need to gain control of our schools and the education and discipline within.
When you have a force that believes that the OUTSIDERS ARE AGAINST THEM they are not going to centrally focus upon that which they control to be the primary vehicle for their forward movement. Instead they focus on this outside threat and work to change it so that they can share in the benefits. These benefits always seem to be "one inch away" from their grasp. Thus they keep stretching.
