Chicken Special @ KFC: Some Times I Hold My Head In Shame At What Some People Do

Here is a KFC in Jonesboro Georgia off of Tara Blvd.

The camera did not pick up on it too good but inside this restuarant is a long, long line of people trying to get in on the chicken deal.

The line snakes from the normal line, back through the seating area.  

Here is the extended parking lot from the KFC.  The line of cars for the KFC drive through extends beyond the KFC parking lot into the general lot of the shopping center.

Sometimes I think "Maybe it is ME who is different and strange?"

I drove from my house to eat at a Cuban restaurant that I had promised myself I would eat at just to sample the food.  They were closed today.  I decided to go to KFC to get something to eat instead of having to wait for prepared food.  I had a short time window for my lunch break.

I pulled into the KFC parking lot and saw a bunch of people.   Once I see a line of people, I turn around.   There are few things that can cause me to stand in a long line.  I absolutely HATED the Registrar's line in college.  There is NO FOOD of any sort that could make me wait in line.

Here is how I am brainwashed into thinking.   The menu at KFC has items priced from $1 up to $18.99 for a big bucket of chicken.  This line of cars on the outside or the line on the inside were each treated to a 1 hour long wait.  An hour of my time is worth more than the $18.99 item that KFC is offering to me.    Thus I was pissed to see the line and I was astonished to see the long line of people who waited to get whatever KFC was handing out.

Sadly when I drove to the KFC in Fayetteville - there was a long line as well, but not as long as the other location.  (Yes there were White folks in line at both locations but the vast majority of those waiting were Black).

I got the same feeling today that I had when I visted the inner city public school last year where they bribed the students to come to show up to school the next 3 days to take the standardized tests by promising them FREE STUFF for jumping through the hoops.

As much as some people seem offended by the stereotype of Black people and fried chicken - enough of us act in a way as to make it seem true.
