Another Voice Calling For The End Of "Domestic Pirate On Black Assaults"

Black on Black violence, crime demands attention

I judge the reactions to my movement to bring attention to the BLACK VICTIMS of "Domestic Pirate On Black Crime and Assaults" not on the tenor of the comments said against me but on the rationality that this is a big and growning problem within our community. The reactions by the Black victims of these crimes or their "crying loved ones" trumps all critical assumptions of my agenda and purpose.

I am a student of Black America. I do observational research of what is going on. The goal is to understand what is making these present set of circumstances tick and to put forth a counter-action that might allow solutions to be brought forth.

I am not appeased by the mere mention of "we have got to DO SOMETHING" from the people who are suffering, only to see them continue doing what they have been doing when it comes to redirection of resposibility upon some force who no longer lives around you, doesn't want to live around you because it appears that you are more interested in blaming them than managing your own human resources and who, when they attempt to intervene with constructive feedback that might help your problem - they are pointed to their own problems that have not been addressed.

If you all think that I am just talking about White folks from the outside - your wrong. This includes Black people who have departed for good reason and who seek to 'reach back' to help.

If these "Reaching Back Blacks" don't come to the table fully appreciating the victimized state that history has put upon "these people" who look like them and don't attempt to fight on "behalf of them" but instead make THEIR ORGANIC TRANSFORMATION the centerpiece of their fight - they will indeed receive push back from those who are protectors of the status quo WITHIN BLACK AMERICA.

How do you deal with a set of bigoted people who see what I see and yet shift the focus upon THE OUTSIDE CONSERVATIVE THREAT.....because they know it "works everytime to rile up Black folks and keep us UNIFIED"?

My personal answer is to appeal directly to the common sense Black community, hoping one day that with a preponderance of evidence THEY will put down the "Middleware Bigoted Brokers Of Black Best Interests", holding them accountable for THEY ARE IN POWER.

Ironically - I must convince the masses of Black people to actually DEMAND what they had been DEMANDING all along from the leaders who rose to power from making DEMANDS on behalf of Black folks.

For so long they have exploited the low hanging fruit. A racist White cop. A judge who threw a Black defendant under the bus with a harsh sentence. A corporation that is discriminator in its practices. It is clear that now that so many of these issues have been codified into law the
"Middleware Bigoted Brokers Of Black Best Interests" now are left to do two things as they continue their agenda unabated by reality:

  • Stay stilent and seek out the remaining "exploitable items" - (ie: claim that Photo ID for voting is a CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION akin to Poll Taxes since the people had to pay for their licenses)
  • Expand their political base - claiming that despite their present control over EVERY SINGLE DISTRICT which has 35% + Black voting power.....they need MORE POWER to make the macro level changes in America.

I don't know about you but for me - I'd expect to see some hint of this grand benefit from the intermediate power that they now have. Sadly Philadelphia and Baltimore presently offer no hint that all will be a utopia when they take over.

There has never been a more critical time to REACH IN and establish discipline and order WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY than in the present. FINE - you don't want the heavy handed order from the police force. Where is your success in getting Black folks out from in front of their flat screen televisions en masse to help change things?

I must note that despite my volunteer work doing this very thing - there is simply no way that my once a week invovlement in the lives of a room full of kids can replace the day in and day out male interaction from a resident father. In fact - I leave my own son in order to tend to someone elses.

Beyond the Republican attempt to hijack "family values", despite the claims that "THEY DIDN'T INVENT THIS CONCEPT", the truth is that our community is hurting because we fail to enforce this structure that has shown since the begining times that this is the necessary construct to develop well balanced children. Instead of arguing that the exception to this does not prove harmful, why not focus upon strengthening the whole?

The growing list of Black Victims of Assaults can't stand to suffer any longer from this threat that is being produced from the present arrangement .

Black On Black Violence

The recent drive by shootings in Liberty Square Projects saw four more teenagers among people of color suffer needlessly as a result of violence.

Black on Black violence of this nature, in addition to other Black on Black crimes is an ongoing tragedy that has baffled many for a long time.

There are those among people of color who have to struggle against the ills of discrimination. Others are forever screaming about police brutality and injustice in the criminal justice system.
Black on Black violence and other crimes appear to be a self perpetuating source of self destruction. So, it is fitting to get a sampling of thoughts on the matter.

“Oh, my God!” said the Rev. Richard Dunn, pastor of Faith Community Baptist Church, and the outgoing President of P.U.L.S.E (People United to Lead the Struggle for Equality). It is so frustrating, so disheartening, so crippling what we do to each other when we continue to be victimized by Black on Black crime – particularly among our youth.”

Liberty Square Projects was dubbed ‘The Pork n Beans some years ago and has had more than its share of victims of violence over the years. Northwest 15 Avenue is the western boundary for the housing project that opened in 1938 as a result of efforts led by the late Captain James E. Scott.

The area saw a significant drop in violence and other crimes when Congressman Kendrick Meek, then a Florida State Legislator, organized a group called MAD DADS, who regularly patrolled the area in protest against the illegal drug trade and violence.

“Back then it wasn’t that much violence,” said Kimberly Taylor, 33, a cosmetics supervisor at Walgreen’s Drugs, who lived in the Liberty Square Projects in the 1980’s and early 90’s while attending Holmes Elem., Charles Drew Middle School and Northwestern High School.

“Back then we could sit all night and just chill without worrying about people getting sprayed. When they wanted somebody they got just that person, not a lot of innocent people like that. Now they just spray and hit anybody around.
