OK. I admit. Though I have 3 episodes of the MTv documentary on my Tivo, I've only watched one of them.
I found it quite ironic that MTv and others (Andrew Young - Civil Rights activist) saw fit to promote T.I. as a mentor for other young people who are troubled rather than holding him up as a repeat offender with no credibility on the subject.
This is yet another reason why I say that it doesn't matter the offense that you have made. It only matters who the JUDGES are that will either keep reminding you of your offense or decide to use you to advance their own agenda. At some point, however, the credibility of the judges must be held up to scrutiny.
'Don’t pass the buck’ if you make a mistake, T.I. tells MTV
I couldn't help but notice that there were two types of Atlanta area high schools who took sides with respect to extending an invitation to TI to come in and speak to their students:
- The school swhich felt that TI could relate to their students, reaching them at their level and could talk about the gang violence
- Thoe schools which refused to allow TI to enter their schools because they know that HE IS A PART OF THE PROBLEM and thus they would be diminishing their institution by allowing him to take the stage.
Of course many of the schools in the first category indeed had their own gang problems. Sadly thse are also the schools which "people who can" are exiting as they seek out other schools in which their kids can obtain a quality education.
At some point, people, a decision needs to be made. Some people believe that endless chances and foregiveness is a sign of their own compassion. In truth it is a sign that they have no respect for the STANDARDS that are needed for a civilized community to enforce.

RESPECT THE LAW!!

Well said, and I agree 100%. It's easy to fall into the "yeah but" crowd when they see images or profit driven shows like this on television. It indeed takes away from the fact that his life has been a part of the problem.
