Here is my viewpoint of the anti-tax Tea Parties that took place today. I chose to listen to a variety of "right wing" and "left wing" news and radio media today. I capped it off by watching the "Sean Hannity Show".
Plain and simple - Get Rid Of Sean Hannity as the leader of this movement. He is far too partisan. He made his show and "Anti-Obama" rant thus missing a great opportunity.
Here is some perspective:
I keep a tab on several key cities around the nation. In many of these places they are standing on the side of a cliff. On the one hand there is little room to add more tax liabilities upon the masses on the revenue side of the house. On the opposite end they are facing cuts in core services - police services/fire houses and then key spending such as libraries and general cuts as well.
Despite the snipping against this conservative sponsored Tea Party concept - the left "gets it" as well. They too have a limited appetite for new taxes upon THEM as their conservative adversaries.
Sean Hannity, the perpetual partisan failed to open the door for "Obama supporting" Democrats who are tapped out on taxes.
I have reported several times about how Democrats, when backed in the corner by a partisan will "vote against their own interests" just to stand their ground against a conservative who they want to stand up against.
Hannity should have kept direct attacks upon Obama to a minimum and instead focused on the painful truth that so many Americans know is the case.
My suggestion is that someone else step forward and take the lead with this anti-confiscatory tax movement. The people of New York City, upon being hit with a "music download tax" are not going to stand for the continued picking of their pockets. This movement needs to provide them with cover as they too join in on the push back.
I don't have a particular person in mind who is less of a polarizing figure but they need to not make this a "Republican thing" but instead push the case that NONE OF THESE GOVERNMENT PROMISES come without increased taxes and there is not always some "evil rich person" who's pockets can be picked.
When the "SCHIP" increases which will purportedly be paid by increased cigarette taxes are proven to fall short - this program is going to be paid by the people who were happy for the service but glad that they had avoided the taxation before this point.
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.
