Black Muslim Calling For Consciousness Attacks Sambo Hip Hop Rather than Black Conservatives As The Key Threat

Muhammad calls for Black consciousness

In a country where Muslims have been demonized, Akbar Muhammad, a former student of Malcolm X, sees the Muslim state of consciousness as the solution to many of the problems in the African-American community.

On Feb. 21, the 44th anniversary of the assassination Malcolm X, Muhammad used the story of his life to show the power of consciousness and the impact it can have on helping troubled youths.

“The problem of drugs and dysfunctional families in our community hasn’t gone anywhere,” Muhammad said. “We need mentors, especially for our young Black men. We need to have tutoring programs.”
