Obama Accepts Responsibility For Dasche Fiasco

Obama Admits 'Mistake' in Handling of Daschle Nomination

Let me say that I am open minded and objective enough to say "This is nice for Obama to accept responsibility on a preemptive basis for the flubs thus far. He is also staying in front of the camera. This must be his version of the "Fire Side Chats".

There are no doubt going to be some people who drive the line "Isn't it refreshing to have a president who now takes responsibility and who is so open to the public?"

For me - it is not that simple.

Just as leftist cartoonist Mike Luckovich started drawing the "incredible shrinking Bush" to capture the changing stature of George W. Bush - I plan to be observant of Obama's willingness to accept responsibility AND expose himself to open interviews after having several crises under his belt as President.

You see to say "My Bad" when much of the flubs were self inflicted is one thing. Being open to doing this very thing when there are CONSEQUENCES SHOWN for your POLICY and or ACTIONS and then you have the angry public coming after you and seeking to HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE is a very different thing.

At the end of the day there is nothing that has transpired thus far that would cause Obama to lose any votes upon his reelection. (For 99% of the Black Democrats - there is literally NOTHING he is going to be able to do to cause them not to vote for him in 2012 anyway. For the Black press - there is nothing that he can do to cause them to run a full court press on him either.)

I stated previously - the appearance of openness and the earlier expansion of the "Freedom Of Information Act" is good from the stand point that Obama doesn't have any tracks that he needs to cover. At the same time - IF he chooses to open "warm documents" to the public AND his political enemies use it as a virtual peek into his diary - I assure you that these doors are going to close.

Just to spin it around - IF HE DOESN'T CLOSE THEM - he is simply setting himself up for attack and the ultimate failure of key parts of his presidency.
