(note for my "English Teacher" critics - I have added section headings so that you can pick and choose which parts to read. I believe that my VOLUME of words are justified because IT ALL LINKS TOGETHER - the motivations of the Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive-Fundamentalist Racism Chaser, Democratic Party operatives and the underlying economic assumptions that they have. For me to edit my work down would be for me to disconnect what is ultimately connected)
Fear Of An Amalgamated, Mongrel Black Electorate
If one watches the tactics used by the most entrenched elements of the Black Political establishment one can note how closely they parallel the antics used by bigoted Whites who in the past let their views be known.
I am made to recall the night time speech of the Klansmen as he rants against his fears of integration. Thus the title of this piece.
Let me quickly dispatch a few counter-claims.
YES I do believe that the Republican Party itself must change. As an organization that seeks POWER - it will have to tailor its message to deal with the changing realities of power in America itself. This is ultimately where it will draw its array of elected leadership from.
I also believe that if the Conservatives water down their fundamental message as a means of accepting membership who ultimately want them to be just like the Liberal party - then it is the Conservatives who lose.
This entire debate is similar to what is being seen in many churches in America but especially in Europe. The bottom line of it all is that a more secular progressive constituency is pressing the church to CHANGE, yielding toward "the will of man" and abandoning some of the church's long held principles.
Where as indeed some of the "religiosity" as implemented by MAN and applied to the religious order should yield to the whims of the modern day - the core concepts of that specific order and that which radiates from it CANNOT yield lest this church fail upon its primary mission.
I am NOT saying that the Republican Party is "the church". In fact it is only a man made creation for the purposes of obtaining power. The example above was only to detail the distinction between the "conservatives" and the "secular progressives".
The Republicans And Diversity
When Black America sees a mostly White GOP convention in Minneapolis and then sees a diverse Democratic convention and later a nomination of a Black man in Denver - the immediate response is to make a circular reference: "This is MY PARTY.....look at how they accept me"......."look at the lack of Black people in this other party - they reject me. They are the party of White people".
Just imagine if Fannie Lou Hamer had the same notion of 'The White Party" when she went to Atlantic City and DEMANDED that the Democratic Party of 1964 that wouldn't even seat a Black delegate let alone choose one as their leader - chose to NOT GO WHERE SHE WASN'T WANTED. She would not have made it into the history books as a folk legend for resolve. She was "sick and tired of being sick and tired" and thus she fought.
It would be intellectually dishonest to fail to inspect what is going on with the relationship between Blacks and the Republican Party. The same Black people who are undeterred about
- Getting into "white schools" where the "white culture" is the predominate order in the school in their pursuit of education
- Be placed in executive or board level positions in "white companies" in pursuit of power and income
- Move into "white communities" in pursuit of quality schools, appreciating home values and a general sense of public safety and conditions in line with raising a family
- Getting into "white clubs and golf courses" because of the social and business connections that this affords
What is the force that is causing Blacks to be barn burners in these realms but RESISTANT to crossing the threshold of the Republican Party, seeking to change it from WITHIN so that their ideological adversary is reshaped into a worthy competitor for its vote?
The answer is incumbent within the question. For one to not see why this is - one would have been ignoring the admonitions said by Democratic operatives such as political science professor Dr Ronald Walters. For the years that I have been keeping track of Dr Walters he warned above all else:
Do NOT allow the Black vote to be split across parties and thus diluted as a voting block.
Now keep in mind that he did not ask that Blacks refrain from splitting our vote amongst different Democratic Party candidates in a primary. Reality shows that one was subject to attack for supporting Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama. This was an internally generated "corrective force". No less and undemocratic force which suppresses one's free will to choose who THEY think is best. It comes as no surprise that if inter-Democratic party attacks are registered as such that a "Negro who is foolish enough to be a Republican will suffer a beating by a verbal baseball bat instead".
WHERE THE PROBLEM RESIDES
In my view Political Parties in America are nothing more than general containers for platforms of political thought. The parties seek POWER within the context of this domain.
The key problem with the orthodoxy of Black America today is that too many of us seek to reference the alignment of a given political party with regard to WHERE WE STAND TODAY. Everyone assumes that "they are right" and "the other guy is wrong". Thus the entity that most closely matches their present views - are the good guys in the entire scheme of things.
I like to set it up in terms of the metaphor of a vehicle, a roadway & driving conditions and finally - the destination.
The Black voter is keyed in upon the vehicle. The paint job, the leather package, the stereo - all of the accoutrement's of the vehicle. This particular vehicle is customized in accordance with what appeals to us more than the other vehicle that has wood paneling and is corny. This vehicle is what I choose.
All the while the key question of the LOGISTICAL PLAN that is needed for this VEHICLE to ride upon in attainment of the GOAL - to "Get To The Fabled Promised Land" is put off as secondary or tertiary points.
This point is seen in our PRESENT SITUATION. Look at where my people live in our highest concentrations. These are the places that also have the most entrenched Democratic Party majorities. Though decades of functional "straight party voting" indeed the Democratic Party reigns - just as the Black establishment has hoisted it to be as they fused the party interest with our racial interests.
Now keep in mind that the previous office holders were largely purged because they had FAILED the Black community in
- Educating our children
- Protecting our people rather than harassing them as law enforcement
- Employing our people via local economic development
- Guiding our people toward health
- The schools that were not run by favorable Democrats were still failing
- The police who were not being lead by favorable Democrats were still arresting Blacks (as they should) and harassing Blacks (which they should not)
- The employment of these areas declined as businesses closed or departed - taking away the economic base
- Some of these areas became "red push pins" on the maps of the CDC or HHS in tribute to their being "hot spots" for a variety of ailments
The new order of POWER was supposed to place these communities on the path of straight and narrow. Now that "WE ARE IN CHARGE THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE!! We run things!"
They figured that forces of industry and the White residents were going to STAY PUT and yield to their new found power and control. Little did they realize that they had miscalculated greatly. You see it was the preceding departure of the "White Establishment" increasingly to the suburbs which afforded the tipping point by which the Black/Progressive order over the city and/or counties could obtain elected power in the first place. The election of these forces that were counter to the White's interests (I am not placing "good or bad" JUDGMENT upon either side at this point) only expedited the exodus of Whites out of these core cities in the metro area.
This is a perfect example of how the focus on the VEHICLE rather than all of the LOGISTICAL OUTCOMES ultimately failed to produce the desired outcomes for our community.
At the end of it all these same cities, after losing their economic base due to the exodus began to
- Lose their ability to pay for government goods and services needed to run a city
- Became unemployment centers
- Saw a sharp drop in the quality of their school systems
- Became acute areas for social distress with respect to demands for social services
To more clearly understand the tactical mistake of the Black establishment one has to go back and understand the core function of the CITY as an entity. All places which call themselves cities were once "unincorporated lands" which received their government services from the county or state. They paid taxes to this entity as well.
At a certain point a group of local leaders saw that their civic fortunes and best interests resided in concentrating their resources more locally and using them to build a greater whole. Thus they petitioned the state for a city charter and thus became a city. By yielding the flow of tax money the state also expected the city to provide for the people via government services in a more SELF-SUFFICIENT manner, in line with their new status as cities.
As we fast forward to the "Speak Truth To Power" movements within Black America which drove us toward "regime change" it is my opinion that the RESPONSIBILITY that came with POWER was lost. Thus I was not surprised when I heard congressman John Conyers say on the Black Family Channel a few years ago "Political Power precedes Economic power". Indeed the forces of political activism were operating off of this notion when they began to mount political challenges in the urban core areas that they now control.
In as much as this is still a democracy - CAPITAL picked up and LEFT. When there is a political force with you as a target as identified by their rhetoric - the choice is either to sit back and be picked clean - or to move outside of the domain of their political control. They wisely chose evasive action. (Side note - Today as I read the various rantings of my left wing debate adversaries regarding how companies who receive government money should be effectively SUBJECTS TO the Federal government - I more clearly understand the resentment based forces that some centers of capital saw coming at them).
In the Black community - radical forces enjoy a significant amount of fame and adulation. One who "Speaks truth to power" enjoys more backing than one who negotiates with power in pursuit of the long run goal. The difference between these two has to do with the perceived need to break with the prevailing order and chart a substantially different course. Indeed - negotiating with a slave holder where 25% of your people are released still means that you have not freed your people. Thus I am not discounting radicalism totally.
In the case of the past mounting of power for the Democratic Party in the urban areas, however, THEY must be held accountable for a good portion of the damage done to the interests and standing of Black people as a result of their initiatives which drove home the point of the needs of the people while failing to take heed of the real world market forces that required that operating profits be made so as to justify the enterprise lest it die or move away. In listening to some people's logic they blame the COMPANIES FOR MOVING AWAY but can't seem to place their hands upon the portion that their POLICIES played in contributing to their closure or departure. I recall one progressive opponent telling me "The companies who packed up and moved to 'Right To Work states' are shameful as they have put people out of work and caused poverty". He does not know how WRONG he is.
Causing poverty is like a physicist claiming that he "caused cold". There is no such thing as COLD. There IS "the absence of HEAT". The poverty and growing unemployment of the Rust Belt States is due to the removal of the HEAT - the companies that BUILD THESE AREAS UP. In as much as the new political order and organized labor PRICED and REGULATED themselves out of a favorable market condition - it is THESE POLICIES that need to be held accountable for their proportional blame as well.
THE SECOND ACT
So now the Progressive Establishment has control over the central cities and yet their hopes that their new found power was going to change the lives of their constituents are dashed. "What to do? What to do?".
Since they have public sentiment on their side AND the Press operatives are not likely to turn against them, critiquing them on their strategic miscalculations - what is the most logical course of action for them to take?
EXPANSION!!
Move The Goal Posts Outward!
Where as once the city was to field an economic order that paid its own way the need was for them to regain the lost MONETARY ASSETS that vacated from their political domain. Having gotten control of the lower plateau the progressives began to make an expansionary run at the counties and state governments in order to forge more vertical integration between the needs of the LOCAL governments and the expanded tax boundary that is within the state.
In full disclosure - in my research upon Thurgood Marshall and other progressives they are of the opinion that, for example "education is a STATE FUNCTION". The granting of a franchise to the city to carry out the state function of public education does not abdicate the responsibility of the state to educate the children within the state. I agree with this point.
HOWEVER - I must add that if the city entity is no longer solvent in carrying forth its obligations to its citizens then the state should revoke its charter and reorganize the entity so that it can be made self sufficient again. THEY CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Oh what glory days these days are for the Progressives in America. After 8 years of "Bush" their joy and happiness got turned on like a light switch. I am sorry folks - but to see thug rapper Young Jeezy - in a DVD that I rented in which he has a "F_ck the Police, Love the Thug Drug Dealers who keep it real" attitude one minute. Whereas the next minute he is on stage seeking to help a White Liberal Democrat win a senate seat from Georgia and then is interviewed saying that he would give up 50% of his earnings in TAXES because "this is what we need to do to make this thing work" is a bit much for me to stomach.
If Young Jeezy can be made to PAY FOR the cops that he says is harassing him and be taken seriously then clearly things have CHANGED.
The Democratic President is seen as a trifecta for Progressive interests. Federal money is going to flow down through the states and into the cities. The FUNCTIONAL negation of "Escaping Conservatives" is thought to have been negated. "They can RUN AWAY now that we have control of the outer boundary of the TAX SYSTEM" is in the mind of many Progressives.
I believe that this point in time is going to prove to be a test for people's general assumptions. Just as I prepared myself to be fundamentally changed prior to going to see the two Michael Moore theatrical productions - such is the case with these series of events in America. (By the way "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Sicko" failed to move me because of the blatant propaganda contained within).
From these series of events I believe that the key concept of "There is no free lunch" will be painfully bestowed upon the American electorate who believes that their lunch is stored up in another man's wallet and that it is only the distribution system that stands in the way.
BACK TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND BLACK FOLKS
Bringing it all together -
In as much as the Black Political Establishment are Democrats and Progressives - the thought that the Republican Party might reach out and pick off an increasing number of Black folks is disturbing to the PARTY'S interests. The Black establishment - as DEMOCRATS are going to attack Michael Steele and the Republicans as inauthentic because they know that by having a "racist enemy party" bodes well for their own interests in preventing a splintered Black voting block.
Keep in mind that their primary interests ARE NOT to advance the Black best interests as measured objectively. Their interests are in POWER and thus keeping Blacks unified in a voting block. To have Black people start to ask questions about the attainment of deliverables from their order is a threat to their agenda.
Now get this - the very same people who promote "Speak truth to power" in regards to other government FAILURES to deliver are threatened by people taking action if and when they fail. In taking action and going the other way they will say that this splinter group is a threat to the Black ascent to power. This proves that their interests is POWER rather than having individual regions of the nation customize their governing order until a mix of proper ideologies and policies are found which express the goals.

THE FEAR OF THE REPUBLICANS AS AN OPTION is really the fear that Black people will SPLIT from the Democratic Order and force the DEMOCRATS to DELIVER lest the consequence of a shifting electorate be seen WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY.
Do you see the irony here? In effect the Black vote would be like AMERICA'S VOTE.
America has shown a willingness to shift from Conservative To Liberal to Conservative based on the changing big picture that is on the radar screen. The entrenched Black ideological BIGOTS see Black America doing this same thing as a THREAT TO THEIR INTERESTS.
Now let me ask you - Shouldn't a person who has the objective best interests of Black America welcome the opportunity to PLAY BOTH "sutors" against each other for maximum advantage? How many flowers does a pretty girl who is favored by many have?
This is why I make the key distinction between the BROAD BLACK COMMUNITY and the subset of Democratic Operatives within it. They do not represent the full and complete array of Black political thought. They only represent one segment of it. In as much as they have POWER.....they must also be accountable for their DELIVERABLES.
In as much as they have "dual citizenship" (their party and their race) it is the BLACK COMMUNITY that must PLAY THEM to our greater advantage:
"Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Jesse Jackson, et al - since you are a Democrat and a Black Activist - if you want our vote this time YOU HAD BETTER go work out a better deal for us from your party bosses. We gave you control over our schools and we are not happy with the results that you have been able to forge for our benefit"
The Black Ideological BIGOT fears the "Integration of Black people" into the American political system just as the WHITE RACIST BIGOT feared societal integration of White people.
3 comments:
Are you saying "A lot of African American might shift to Republican party?" That will be real scary for a lot of people. (Especially Democrats.)
1. The congressional Black Caucas- I'm gettting irate with there terrible shanigans
2. The mayors of African Americans city that screw the people.
New Orleans
Birmingham
Clayton County
Philidelphia
Baltimore
Oakland
Detroit
3. What if our people decide to wake-up and see that democratic party has been screwing them worse the public school system?
4. The thought of going through an inner city community and not seeing burglar bars and healthy community. That thought has brought tears to my eyes.
Also, Arthur Davis is running for Governor of Alabama- He thinks the Obama magic will work in Alabama. ROTFL! I will give you a big reason for the running.
Anonymous (hint - it would be nice if you were to get a screen name of some sort. I have different "anons" and I lose track of you)
Let's be clear - I don't believe that switching to the Republicans is the magic bullet for Black folks.
I ONLY believe that Black people have been pigeon holed into believing that the slate of solutions as proposed by the Democrats are best. They fail to impose due criticism when the Democrats FAIL THEM. Instead they see this is an opportunity to TRY HARDER!!
"Political Power precedes Economic power"
I think that history should have discredited this notion to the point that saying it should "precede" gales of laughter.
If this were true, then absolute political power should lead to absolute economic power. What history has shown (in Russia, China, Korea, etc) is that this is true in the very near term. And then it burns out in a short time frame, depending on the initial foundation.
Political power can steal economic results, but it cannot create them. It can only steal them by destroying the economic power that they started with.
No minority group has ever created wealth (as opposed to money) via political power. Jews, Chinese, Italians, Vietnamese, Irish, etc, all have come to America with the same results -- economic gains first, then political gains.
To do otherwise is as crazy as saying, "well, if I only had a new car to get to work in, I'll get a good job to pay for the car."
