The Fayette County home of former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield faced foreclosure this week. The home reportedly is worth an estimated $10 million and was set to be auctioned by a bank on July 1. The auction, however, has been called off.
There is not one cell in my body that is hoping that Evander Holyfield loses this house. He routinely opens up his doors to various kids on Independence day for a big cookout and during Christmas season he decorates his lawn with lights. These two things have become standard traditions for those of us who live in the immediate vicinity of this mansion. It is no doubt a standard reference as we bring out of town guests into our homes for the first time. I make it a poin to drive down Old National Hwy from the airport in order to point out the Holyfield estate.
To be honest - I wondered how Mr. Holyfield was going to retain the house during his retirement. As the biggest house in Fayette County GA he is also the largest private property tax payer. I can imagine that he pays upward of $250,000 per year in property taxes.
Not that I am in any position to tell the man what to do with his property nor am I attempting to push him out of the crib. This would make for a profitable "bed and breakfast" and conference facility.

Conservative Feedback,
Evander Holyfield shouldn't been retired after 1997 after his purses were 15-20 million a fight. But, he had a few problems...
1. He couldn't keep his woodpecker to himself. 13 kids by numorous women. WTF
2. He didn't see that one day,all athletes have to retire and save up for that rainy day.
3. Those men of (crooks) faiths. Creflo, Benny Hinn.
What are your observations?
Also, When will the white liberals leave my people alone?
I never knew anything in depth about Hollyfield, but he always struck me as one of the Good Guys. I hope it isn't too hard on him when he has to accept that being a prizefighter means a decrease in comfort level pretty quickly if you want to maintain a reasonable level of comfort into your twilight years.
The Bed and Breakfast/ Conference idea is a good one. He would generate money from something he already owns.
It might at least offset the taxes.
