Focusing In On The Vechile Rather Than The Destination

Why is it that some people have chosen to bask in the SYMBOLISM of this "Black man as president"?

* In the opportunity for WHITE FOLKS to understand the characteristics of a Black woman's hair if it rains on inauguration day (as heard on Tell Me More)

* On the cute pony tails that the Obama girls have (as seen on Jack & Jill)

* On the feeling of PRIDE as a Black person in seeing the "swagger of a Black man" at the White House upon meeting Evil Bush and his wife.

YET...................

the subject of the UNDERLYING REASONS as to WHY most Black folks have engaged in their POLITICAL ACTIVISM is seemingly demoted?

Is it possible that we as a people can get so caught up in the machinations of the VEHICLE that has PROMISED TO take us forward to the "Promised Land" while fearing for our dear life to actually MAKE MEASURE as to our present coordinates relative to the initiation of our journey that PROVE our ADVANCEMENT there in?

It is clear that George Schuyler is correct when we says that certain people are "LampBlack" in their orientation. That is proclaiming that they are uniquely Black when in truth they are nothing more than a model of the White community with a coat of "blackwashing".

Thus the red carpet laid upon Peachtree Street in Atlanta each year and the associated idol worship of the Black celebrities wearing 5 figured dresses and 6 figure jewels in the guise of the BET Music awards proves that Black folks want ACCEPTANCE more than the absolute utopia (meaning 'no racism, no where') that is so frequently claimed (or used as a club upon the closest bleeding hearted liberal).

All of these SYMBOLS don't prove ADVANCEMENT. It proves that we as a people are quite ready to assume some of the very cultural elements that we have long associated with elitism and capitalism.

2 miles away from the Fox Theater is the Vine City Section. The deadly "Buttermilk Bottom" section is even closer. Just as there are "Black faces" on the red carpet shown as proof of advancement there are also BLACK FACES all over government and law enforcement showing the same.

The key problem is that the TERRORIST THREAT that used to be White folks have switched to BLACK. The very same voices of opposition to the INJUSTICE of "DOING NOTHING" to show that America cares for the least of her own that was put upon the WHITE LEADERSHIP......is not placed upon the Black leadership that is on the watch now.

Our political leaders are active historical figures. These "Permanent Friends From WITHIN" can't be fundamentally confronted with our PERMANENT INTEREST for

* Safe Communities
* Quality Schools
* Sound Economic POLICY that leads to Economic Development


Thus the Black community fundamentally needs to come up with NEW LANGUAGE that transitions from the PROTESTS against our ENEMY POLITICIANS into EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT of the politicians that we have put into place.

We have touched their skin and know that they are REAL - just as we are.
NOW IT IS TIME TO OBTAIN FUNCTIONAL BENEFIT FROM THEM for the interest of our community.
