We didn't get our 40 acres and a mule...but we got 50 states and a White House!!!

Some of you make me want to put you on my "Junk Mail" list.

I am on no less than 10 different e-mail distribution lists with family, friends, business associates, frat brothers and Black alumni from the college that I have attended.

I am not sure if some of you believe that the chain message that you are sending is the first time your receipients have ever received it and thus you forward it along BUT ......this is the 4th time I have received the message:

"We didn't get our 40 acres and a mule...but we got 50 states and a White House!!!"

I know that it is a mistake to take this message literally - Barack Obama DID NOT win 50 states in the election last night.

At the same time this message deserves deeper inspection.

My first question is "WHO IS WE"?

We Democrats?
We Barack Obama Supporters?

This can't be it. As I assure you that such message would not have been distributed had Democrat John Kerry had prevailed in 2004.

It is clear to me that the "WE" is "WE BLACK FOLKS"!!!

I can tell that I am going to get sick and tired of you all sooner rather than later.

While this is a momentus occasion in American history this was not "WE" who won nor caused "US" to win last night. Black folks make up about 13% of the population. Obama's Transition team does not appear to have but one Black peron on it at the core.

WE ain't running a thing.

Some of you are living so vicariously through BARACK OBAMA that it is going to be difficult for you to detail HOW YOU HAVE BENEFITED after 4 years - even if you haven't.
