Clayton County Schools Working To Turn Things Around

As I had said previously - I have no problem in giving a shout out in support of the right thing just as I render criticism in response to dysfunctional behavior.

Two recent news articles from Clayton County Georgia give me the slightest bit of hope that they are moving in the right direction.

AJC: Uniform dress policy expands to all Clayton schools

All 50,000 Clayton County students will be required to wear “uniform dress” starting next school year.

Though not as stringent as uniforms per se, the new uniform dress policy will require students to wear khaki pants, skirts, polo shirts and sweaters of the same color, Jonesboro High School Principal Carl Jackson said. The policy prohibits blue jeans and T-shirts.

AJC: Clayton parents get help with math

School officials will teach parents how to help their children with math homework and prepare for standardized tests. The program, which is geared to parents of middle school and high school students, also will offer an overview about changes in the math classes.

The workshop will be held at the Perry Learning Center on Spring Street in Jonesboro.
