Colin Powell Supports Obama - Fears More Conservatives On The Supreme Court

For many people in the Black press the story will be "Colin Powell comes back to his senses and supports Obama".

If you notice the key justifications for his move - "The Republicans are calling Obama a Muslim" and "McCain will appoint 2 more conservatives to the Supreme Court" all came in the context of his minimization of Obama's lack of expertise on military policy. He also says nothing about the domination of the Progressive over the Black community where failing schools require the "Affirmative Action" that he favors in order for students to receive a handicap for college admissions.

Powell, a lifetime military man lamented - "Obama can compensate for his lack of military expertise by adding people with experience to his staff".

Today Colin Powell the "moderate-liberal Republican" who is focused on domestic issues showed up and spoke to the nation rather than Colin Powell the military veteran.

I am puzzled as to how Powell can focus on the Republicans calling Obama a "muslim" while not seeing that there is a counter balanced, and in my opinion far, far larger, attack movement coming from the left who is pillorying both McCain and Palin and Cindy McCain on all sorts of similar character defamation tactics. These from the official Democratic campaign to the entertainment media to the the abundant blogs doing such. Powell must be blind to only focus on this unsavory elements of the McCain campaign and their surrogates.

Next Powell mentions that "2 more conservatives on the court is unacceptable" to him - a threat if you will. We are living in a Black community that has been largely shaped from "Justice Thurgood Marshall Justice" where the criminal becomes the VICTIM of the system and thus his offense is minimized in the process. Black America faces the threat of a growing PROGRESSIVE entrenchment - NOT conservative. More of the structures that have brought us this far have been eroded than ever before.

Powell said that Sara Palin provides evidence that the GOP is ready to go further to the right. The gaping hole in this entire argument is that which the Democratic Party is streaming to take the entire nation to the left.

If Mr. Powell's comments were more balanced in which he leveraged Barack Obama, who he said was a "transformational character" is seeking to draw the nation to THE MIDDLE - I would have taken more of Mr. Powell's words as their face value. Instead we have Barack Obama - the person who voted "Present" rather than confronting the Democratic machine on certain issues where they needed to hear a champion for the people's interests over the party's.

Instead Colin Powell showed the sentiments that are inside of him despite his Republican membership.

Please find me a single Black Democrat who has EVER told us that the "Democratic Party has spiraled too far to the left" or "we have too many liberals on the Supreme Court - we need conservatives to balance them out"?

Powell's narrative should be inspected more in regard to what he did not say about the Democrats.

C.F. welcome your insightful visits to Project Logic Ga blog so I wanted to swing by and see what's on your mind.

This post makes good points and I was puzzled also by General Powell's (I still consider him General from my Hill Staffer days)
court appointment views.

But, I had to smile when you wrote:
"Please find me a single Black Democrat who has EVER told us that the "Democratic Party has spiraled too far to the left"

I raise my Blue Dog Democrat hand on that one and hope that moderates will work to ensure that the agenda is not liberal if the Dems take the White House.

Great post.
